They played Sure The One You Need in 1975, though. IMO, it was a nice addition to the setlist.

Right..that was a rare exception!

Yes - I think I read a Mick interview later on where he said they made it a deliberate policy not to do any solo stuff...

On the other hand, Stones solo members could play some Stones songs, and THAT would be Nice.

You're joking right? Keith, Mick, Ronnie, Mick T and Bill have all done Stones songs on their solo gigs.

The Stones are The Stones are The Stones. No solo-work in a Stones-show. Thinking of such a thing is totally absurd...

Nowadays a Stones-show contains only their best-known songs. Hardly anyone in a casual audience would know their solo-songs, Mick is afraid of how the audience reacts when new songs are played, so they play none, not even Doom And Gloom... how afraid must he be then of solo-songs during a show?

I like that they keep the solo work separate from the band material.
Did Keith do Stones songs when he performed with the Barbarians?
I remember reading once that he was pissed that Mick did 'Beast of Burden' on his solo tour, because Keith considered that his song.

The only ones worth playing are some of Keith's solo ones. I'd like to see the band do a few.

True. Some of Woody's might have worked too. I could see the Stones doing F.U.C. Her followed by Star Star. Some bands overdo letting members do their solo stuff though. I've heard the Eagles play loads of stuff from every member's solo albums to the point where you think you're at a Joe Walsh show, etc. instead of the main band.

It is a Jagger/Richards though ... likely a Stones song anyway that they planned for possible inclusion on the next album, and then gave to Ronnie. They probably didn't think of it as a 'solo' tune, and furthermore didn't think of it as a solo tune from a Stones band member, as Ronnie wasn't a Stone at the time of its release.

True, although it was on Ronnie's album from the year before the tour.

A 60s soul number originally. The funny thing is that they tried to do the soul version and not the reggae version Mick guested on. A disastrous version on the Aragon bootleg, imo.

Yes, just meant from the Mick/Keith mindset, don't think they considered it as playing a track from a band member's solo release, I believe that they still considered it as a Stones song.

They probably did, if they wrote it. I'm not sure what Mick contributed to it..

no. and as well, not the other way around ie individual bandmembers playing stones songs in their "private" bands, so to speak. just does nnot fit in. fx think it is absolutely lame when Paul McCartney is playing Beatles songs in his band.

But those are his songs. He either wrote them outright or with Lennon. ... It would be weird, though, if he did 'Power to the People' or 'Woman is the ...

I remember reading back around 82-83 that Bill said Mick asked if he wanted them to play Je Suis Un Rock Star in Europe 82 but Bill declined. Not sure if Mick was just joking.

I think Beatles songs and Stones songs ARE Beatles Songs and Stones Songs,so to speak. The bands made them World famous, and it is a let down that one individual member, with a backup-band copies the songs on concerts.

Not exactly the topic but I still like Billy Preston's songs in the '75/'76 shows.

Nah,the Stones should not play member's solo songs live imo.

I would like to see Paul McCartney perform Oh Yoko off the Imagine album.
