IF I go to a Stones show that last thing I want to hear is a Bowie tune.

I'm saddly disapointed by the fact that the Rolling Stones don't play even one song of David Bowie in their new Olé Tour 2016.
Why such a thing !!

What association has Bowie had with the Stones? None. just a single dome with Mick. As far as music goes Glenn Frey had more in common.

If Bill Joel dies will they play homage to him? What about Elton John? These are The Stones. Get it in your head people.

I'd pay to see the Stones do a Bowie tune

Yeah, same odds as Mick showing up at a Gram Parsons Tribute Concert.

P.S. If fromage doesn't rhyme with homage it should.

they could at least do the riff to rebel rebel as a lead in to a stones song just to show some signs they cared. played the riff 3 times and then jump into a stones tune like LSTNT. its not rocket science

Might as well cancel the whole damn tour. "Oh, David!"

Mick's including something about Bowie in Vinyl.
That seems fitting to me. It was Mick who was close to him.
I'm sure it will be done with Stoned dignity.

What utter crap.
Bowie had plenty of associations with The Stones.
Firstly, he was on friendly terms with Jagger and Wood.
Even Charlie has admitted he was a fan.
Inspired Jagger both in songwriting and performance-wise.
Several quotes, pictures and recordings, proves it.

David Bowie had way more influence than Elton John or Billy Joel ever had. They are microbes in comparison.

Maybe it's time to look at the facts.

No? Then why did they pay tribute to James Brown when he died?

Let's be honest, when one of their own dies (say Wyman) you'll get a few lines from them but no song dedication or tribute concert (certainly not as band). Stones don't do sentiment.

They played It's All Over Now in tribute to Bobby Womack when he died.....

Diamond Dogs would be nice too.

We may see that in some form. But not on tour and not as a band. Maybe there will be some individual contribution from some members in some event somewhere? I don't know if there is a tribute concert coming up?

Rebel Rebel an obvious choice. Would have been historic.

Or Diamond Dogs.

Because he's from an earlier generation and a major influence on them before they made it. In the same way they'd likely do some kind of a tribute to Buddy Guy if he was to go soon (hopefully he'll be around for many more years though).

You guys have short memories - after Ray Charles died in 2004 they went and played a tribute to him on their next tour - North America 2005. The song being Night Time is The Right Time.

So yes, they have done tributes.

Another tribute, but also to a musician who inspired them when they were breaking through:

Will there be a grand Bowie tribute concert? Does someone know? I'm sure att least the Commander would take part in such an hommage, if it doesn't coincide with other obligations, since he and Bowie were personal friends.

Maybe they can do Jean Genie , same chords as it's all over now , but i think they rather prefer cruising with warhorse , don't forget that they're Grand Pa >grinning smiley<

or maybe a Bob Hope cover , it 'll be nice !!

Will be in the US, I think. And Macca and Mick were seemingly schedualed to participate...

Why do some people always want the Stones to do cheesy?

Re: David Bowie hommage from The Rolling Stones

The Stones doing a Bowie song would require The Stones to actually learn and rehearse and perform a NEW song and they don't do that anymore. They're phoning it in these days, they're in autopilot mode. Sorry but that's the truth.
