If Mick Jagger Actually Joined Deep Purple?
Posted by: BrianJones1969 ()

How would Deep Purple albums such as Burn and Stormbringer have sounded if the group actually got Mick Jagger to replace Ian Gillan, instead of future Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale?

The same can be said for live renditions of Gillan-era classics like "Child in Time," "Highway Star" and "Smoke on the Water."

And this whole time I've been wondering what if Mick Jagger joined Deep Purple, instead.

The whole story goes back to Deep Purple's Behind the Music special. When Ian Gillan left in 1973, one possible choice as his replacement was Jagger.

I too have wondered the very same thing. Why is it that musician's limit themselves to one band? Do you remember Peaches & Herb? When Herb left, why couldn't it have been Peaches & Mick?

Holy moly! Yeah you must have cross bred some wicked strains of ganja to come up with that...
Jagger would not fir with Purple at all. And purple would not fit with Jagger. Ian is their man. Their best lead singer. And he still has incredible pipes too (as does Jagger the dagger).

i just dont get bands who replace thier lead singer.

and still remain the same band, its not right.

my main concern though would be if justin beiber replaced jagger as stones front man.

now that would give us all something to moan about.

Peaches and Keith would have been more to my liking. The Keith that did "Apartment Number Nine"

In the early 70ies Paul Simon did some serious thinking about forming a new duo with Mick. The Beach Boys were eager to get Mick after Brian Wilson left. Mick´s greatest desire was to be a member of the Four Seasons. Charlies dream is to lead a Glenn-Miller-Tommy-Dorsey-Tribute Band. Ron Wood has no such dreams, he is still too busy realizing that he finally ended up as a Rolling Stone.

The only deep, daring, bold initiative of Mick is flamenco.
As this video shows.

Paul McCartney should join the Rolling Stones. He´s a great bass player!!

They know each other for decades and he could add some sweet backing vocals as well!

David Coverdale was perfect for DP.
Mick Jagger is perfect for the Stones.

Sometimes I think those of us, including me, who read IORR religiously spent too much time listening to the Stones on headphones turned up way too loud and fried our brains. I recall in the 1980s my dog would get up and hide when I put mine on and started listening to my favorite tunes. She was a smart animal.
