Honky Tonk Women -best live version

And another one....

Was thrilled when I heard the archive Brussels version in 2011.The groove. Amazing.

From the post 82 -tours: I actually prefer the one from the 89/90 tour ...the extended cowbellintro. Never been a fan of the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle tour - even if I agree that these tours were extremely important for the bands future- but I really liked the way they played HTW.

I think the version on the Some Girls in Texas DVD is excellent.

Check out the Brixton '95 soundboard version. Great opening number. BTW, that video still needs to come out!

The one recently released from the Roundhouse '71 show is awesome. My other favourites are Ya-Ya's '69 and Brussels '73.

Ya ya's is sublime. An effortlessly raunchy groove. Love those sailors in Paris...

Brussels is interesting. A different counter rhythm from Mick Taylor that takes the song to a different place. Very cool.

Roundhouse version is amazing. The Richards-Taylor interplay during the first few minutes of song takes it to another level. Ya Yas and Handsome Girls versions 2 & 3.

Brussels is the best for me! The intro is made so much funkier by Taylors simple, yet imaginative playing. What a great player he was.........

Roundhose is good also! Again listen to the intro, different from Brussels, but still great. Mick T was such a creative player.

Love You Live - 5th June 1976.
The raw soundboard from 6th June '76 is even better but the quality sucks.

I also like the steady groove it had on the BTB-tour. St. Louis PPV version is fantastic.

Totally agree. So creative, those first notes, Keith and Taylor playing together.

Leeds 71 is very nice too.

on the 2015 zip code tour in Pittsburgh at Heinz field, Keith layed down the most delicious solo on my most favorite stones song of all time Honky Tonk Women.the phrasing of his solo , playing every note with such authority and the killer tone emanating from his butterscotch Fender Telecaster was pure bliss to my ears.

Ya Yas version is still the best. But loved the version on 75/76 tours when they teased the song's intro for about a minute before slamming in.

I'll go for Hampton '81. The opening groove sounds like it might go on for ever - and I wouldn't mind it did.

Yeah, I love those long intros! The longest I could find was the Knebworth '79; bit off topic sorry, but what's that guitar Keith is playing, I never saw him using it for HTW before or after that:

I love the crowd reaction when they recognize the riff...

On LYL version Keith is doing great work, indeed. But Mick doesn't really sing. His "sings" like he is chewing something...

Love You Live is without doubt the greatest Live-Album of all times. Naturally you can find the greatest HTW-Version on it. And Live You Live has ten times better sound than Live Licks or No Security or Hyde Park. Nowadays nobody seems to know how to record and mix a live album. It´s sad sad sad indeed.

This version of HTW cannot be topped, it is perfect, even Mick "chewing something" Jagger fits perfect in this once-in-a-lifetime-performance. It sends shivers up and down my spine, it makes me trembling, shaking and going out of my head every single time I hear it and I hear it quite often.

Agree and disagree bout the LYL-version. Keith is great but Mick is certainly not.

Love the extra verse in Ya Ya's. Is it on LUL too, can't recall? Anyhow both great records, no one knows how to mix a live record today is right, Bob Clear'mcmuffin included. Who ever mixed the last 2 Stones singles as well. No one knows how to mix The Stones anymore. Plundered my Soul was ok but should have sounded like Exile, it would have been easy I believe.

Love the version from Anaheim 24.7.78 with the counter melody played by RW at the beginning.
