Why people still ask him that question is beyond me. Thankfully the interviewer prefaced it with the "I'm sure you're sick of it...", and I'm sure you can't not talk to David Gilmour and get a confirmation for your publication, but its so clearly over its a waste of a question. Back in the 90s it was fair, but its been 20 years at this point, with The Endless River being a two month exception to their activity, and the band is clearly over and done with, as it should be. I'd love to see the band, but Rick is dead and Live 8 got the reunion people wanted. If Rick were alive still, I'd entertain the idea of them continuing, but the band is over and they haven't been clearer about that.

Good interview. The remark about Roger doing a lot of dates seemed stupid. I too was surprised David was doing so little, but you could ask "Did you ever think about maybe 30 dates instead of 8?" as opposed to "your ex band mate Roger did 200. Why aren't you?!" David is right and humble that he's old and can't/doesn't want to. Fair and good answer.

With a new solo album/tour I don't see DG getting our hopes up of a PF gig even for charity.

I am satisfied for now with tickets to 2 Toronto shows smiling bouncing smiley

I don`t get this rightousness. If you`re a fan you just can`t get enough. We`re sitting at the opposite end of the table. That`s what negotiation is all about.

Interesting interview, thanks for sharing. I don't think we'd had the song breakdown before, 3 instrumentals, 2 Gilmour lyrics and 5 Polly lyrics.

Good Interview, now we know who is in the touring band.

A true gentleman DG is.

From Gilmour's official FB page - Preview Show setlist

First Set:

5am, Rattle That Lock, Faces Of Stone, Wish You Were Here, A Boat Lies Waiting, The Blue, Money, Us And Them, In Any Tongue, High Hopes.

Second set: Astronomy Domine, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Fat Old Sun, On An Island, The Girl In The Yellow Dress, Today, Sorrow, Run Like Hell.

Encores were Time / Breathe (reprise) and Comfortably Numb.

Very nice set IMO. I wonder if it will be pretty static on his tour.

Very boring indeed. A good example for bad song-writing. I don´t mind I´ll buy the album nonetheless.

As for the show itself, from what I've read nothing but rave reviews so far from fans and critics alike.
Not bad for a "warmup" show from someone who hasn't toured since 2006..
Quite a varied setlist - 9 Albums covered (7 Floyd 2 Solo) for 2h 20mins.
I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of changes throughout the tour.
Looking forward to the new album release and the rest of the tour.
The 5 Royal Albert Hall shows begin in about two weeks, so things should begin to get really interesting then.

Brief clip of Comfortably Numb solo:

Gilmour

No denying that is some sweet sounding guitar.thumbs up

Came home the other night to find a pile of Gilmour cd's at my doorstep - each ticket bought = free cd -9 in total *(I'll be seeing the show twice at H.Bowl and once at L.A. Forum).
So far have only listened to it once start to finish (still currently absorbing Keith cd), and it's what you might expect from a solo Gilmour album -
loads of amazing guitar, great vocals, decent tunes for the most part, and average/so-so lyrics. There's also a few surprising musical twists and turns to make it interesting.
So far so good, but will have to listen several more times to get a full grasp.

Long story short - I have three spare cd's to give away, and the first three people who email me will get a copy for free (U.S. residents).
All of my other friends and relatives are either going to shows and/or were given cd's. And some of my Pink Floyd friends have stacks of cd's larger than mine - true diehards!

No strings attached - just please don't use for target practice (unless you really hate it).
Just email me a name and a mailing address, and I'll have them in the mail for you some time this week.

edit - all cd's are now spoken for.

Valid opinion Woz - but you could have waited until I gave all 3 cd's away! winking smiley
(2 down, 1 to go).

I honestly think it's pretty good as a solo album, at least that's my first impression.
Kind of liked his last solo album, but it started gathering dust on shelf after a couple months -this one might last a bit longer?
And I don't like any Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, but that's another story...

2 down 1 to go - get your free cd while supplies last! smiling smiley

Just scored tix for the Auditorium Theater show in Chicago. Front row of the uppermost balcony. It's the most I've ever paid for concert tix, but hey, it's a good excuse for a road trip (I'm a 4 hour drive from Chicago) and while I've seen Roger a bunch of times, I've only ever seen Dave twice (Beacon Theater '84 and Yankee Stadium '94).

I saw Dave once solo in 2005 (or '06?) at the Universal Ampitheater (great) and twice with Pink Floyd performing The Wall at the L.A. Sports Arena, 1980 (phenomenal).
Have also seen Roger multiple times- most being during his recent Wall tour.

The Auditorium show in Chicago will be fantastic!!! Beautiful theater and seating capacity only 3,901 seats.

I have these links saved, as a friend of mine in Chicago is trying to lure me out there with Dress Circle seats he bought at face value day of onsale.
Very tempting, and Chicago is a great city!

There is also a spare single Dress Circle seat available at face value if anyone is interested.

I know the set-list, but is he playing good?

Evidently some great reviews so far - his singing and guitar playing in top form.
Not playing the entire new album (as of yet), but maybe that's a good thing...
Listened to cd again today from start to finish - hmmmm....some decent tunes here and there, great guitar, and his voice sounds good.
There's a bit of the good old Floydian vibe, along with a couple of real clunkers imo.
The lyrics leave alot to be desired for the most part, but it is what it is.
Might be a good idea to hit the pub before the show. thumbs up

I read on Dave's Facebook that he wanted to play one theater show during the American tour, and that he fondly remembered this particular venue from Pink Floyd's concerts there in October 1971 and April 1972.

Maybe he'll pull out "Echoes" just for old time's sake?

Better yet, maybe Nicky joins him for a couple of songs???

It's stunning. I saw him tonight and it was absolutely amazing.
Crosby & Nash on 3 songs was a nice surprise.

He is playing fantastic, with a great band.

I'll be there again tomorrow.

I also saw him last night. I was worried that the magic has gone (at least for me) but it was amazing. The new material is so so but the old stuff is timeless. It is not really rock'n'roll but I liked it.

Seen him in Oberhausen the other day and he was in top form. 2h40m of live music. Had a great time! And new songs work pretty well live as well!

The concert last night was absolutely great.
Great sound, great music, great musicians.

Of course the songs from his new album are less exciting than the old Floyd songs.
But compared to Stones, he plays them and it turns out great.

Only complain, a concert where people inclusive FOS sit down 95% of the time!!!

By the way, I talked with a Norwegian guy, not BV, and he was absolutely certain that Stones will play Europe in 2016.
