I went to the show with 7 very old friends, three of which accompanied me to the same stadium for the same band in 78. On the 78 gig, they did not do a encore and people kept throwing thing on the stage. A picture of this was on the back cover of the 81 tour program.
Anyhoo; after 3 hours tailgating we entered "the Ralph."
Section B 37th row. Pretty good seats. The warm up act was great, I recommend getting some of their music. Lots of sole and fever.
The stones slammed into JJF and away we went. 3rd was YGMR, I was kind of bummed because I think that song is a bit contrived but they played it so hard and sharp you had to dance. OOC was great and my friend who are less fanatical loved it as well. Of note should be the long (for the stones) jams in the songs. They looked like great musicians who have rediscovered how much they love playing wit each other and how great they are together. I do not want to get soggy or read too much into it but there was a lot of mutual admeration if not love coming off the stage. The show was a 10. I have seen every tour since 78 and I really think was the best I have ever seen. Mick is singing better than ever and the guitar/sticks are perfect, well not perfect but stones perfect
After the show my friends and I tailgated again to let the traffic clear out. Luckily they woke me up when we left. What a drag it is getting older. Outstanding show.

Tore it right up in Buffalo and had a blast! I have never been to Buffalo for a concert before and went to the taste of Buffalo before hand. Coming from Toronto, what a change in atmoshpere with the tailgating before the show. Met lot's of people and enjoyed the soundscape of music coming from every vehicle/bar(Tailgaters). The concert itself was the their greatest hits played like a jet engine roaring! I have seen them in all types of settings from club gigs to festivals and the best way to describe last night was a happy Stones celebration. Too bad the summer leg could not get extended but glad I caught the show!

Quick take on last night...

My third show this tour.
Second in a row.

FIVE (5!) different songs in Buffalo vs. Detroit.
@#$%& the haters.
The Stones on this Zip Code Tour are working harder than they ever had.
It's been a wonderfully satisfying stretch of kick ass hard rock.

As to the show itself, wonderful crowd, Keith and Ronnie were on fire and we got CYHMK!!!

One more opportunity to catch them before this segment of the tour is over and if you get the chance, make sure you hit Quebec City!

Thanks for the Shidoobee photo taz, glad it was a good party and it sure sounds like you might have got the best show of the tour. I guess it's understandable that they just keep getting better as the tour goes on, but it still amazes me for some reason. a clear sign they are working hard at it. Have fun in Quebec! smoking smiley

we only saw Chuck and Karl before we had to leave, otherwise I totally would have! But there were pretty much no fans there, the entire downtown core of Buffalo is pretty run-down and deserted.

hearing YGMR was a little letdown except the crowd loved it.

That is funny. I can't defend the song, but if it works, it works. Maybe the Stones know something we don't.

Donna and I returned home to Massachusetts late this afternoon from the show. First of all it's great to read reviews from everyone who attended, especially because there's nothing to disagree with. We all had a great time!! I'm still groggy from the riding and two days of nonstop fun, we stayed in Victor NY and drove up early Friday morning. Friday afternoon we headed south to Letchworth State Park and it didn't disappoint in both beauty and hospitality. After catching an open mike night in Naples we headed to a nearby casino and I promptly turned $20.00 into $160.00 take home, something I rarely do...lol. Saturday morning we went to Niagara Falls and then headed over to the Botanical Gardens before taking in the great food samples at the Taste of Buffalo. Finally it was time to head over to the Ralph.

This was easily my best Stones show, starting back to 1981. I finally feel I got the show I've always hoped to see. Regardless of their ages and how long they've been doing this I got a glimpse of their true greatness Saturday night in person.

We were in row 17, Section 132 unlike Sicilian could see everyone on stage just catching the horn section on the right. I can't compare Buffalo to the other venues on this tour but all I can say is Buffalo was in a serious party mood. St. Paul and the Broken Bones were very well received and their last song(Otis Redding's A Little Tenderness) was something to behold. I pulled my binoculars out for three songs: CYHMK, OOC and MR. All three were spectacular! I've never witnessed a crowd at a Stones show as fevered up as Saturday night. I can't compare the frenzied level to other shows because I've never witnessed this much love and affection in my dozen or so shows I've been to. I would hope some of the more traveled members could chime in here for help with this.(Paris 2014 for example?) Keith's set was outstanding, I was impressed that he clearly annouciated every line and phrase that gave BTMMR and Happy the greatness they deserve. I mean compared to '75 need I say more...haha He was clearly a man on a mission all night. Strangely enough a favorite part for me is band intros. I have no problem in saying I always get choked up when Charlie gets introduced, I love the man!! And Ronnie "wings" Wood??...lol

Who knows when the next time will be for me, but I hope it's sooner than later and closer to home but I'd consider traveling they mean that much to me. Lastly it was great to get Buffalo's reaction to Jagger's Brady joke. I loved the boos when his name was mentioned but give me a break I'll take our four Super Bowl wins over Buffalo's four losses any day. Sorry Buffalo that had to hurt back in the 80's!!! Regardless I finally got to see the great great show I've always wanted to see, thank you Buffalo and the incredible Rolling Stones.

The downtown may have appeared deserted because it was Sunday. Also Taste of Buffalo was happening as well. The waterfront was very busy on Saturday Morning
and afternoon. Buffalo has some interesting older buildings downtown - most of
these seem to be in good shape.

Well,Bob, you said it all in one sentence - because right in this gap lies the magic of this band.

Question:

Was Keith trying to make out with Ronnie at the end of this show?
I swear I saw him repeatedly attempt to french kiss his guitar brother.

Sadly, Ronnie rebuffed his advances.

Thank you Hammer's Lot!!!

Once again, I'd like to thank Hammer, from Hammer's Lot.

Months ago when he first posted I asked a few questions and I may have come across as impolite. I apologize for that.

It was a prime location, great atmosphere and fair pricing. Most importantly, there were port-o-johns for the lot parkers only. Also, I felt very secure in leaving my car there for the show.

If I ever get tickets for an event at the Ralph, Hammer's is where I'll be parking.
