They parted ways. Only explanation.

Come on! Don't be like that! Every member of the band was an important part of the whole history!! From Ian Stewart to Brian Jones. From Mick Taylor to Ronnie Wood.

Yes, he left the band, but let's not forget his amazing guitar play, his important role between 1969 and 1974 in music, the timing when he joined the band. I hate it when people just 'erase' or downgrade his part in Stones history. Too easy, too low! Sorry to say this.

Of course he was; Taylor is my favourite guitarist within the Stones. But if it goes like this they don't tango anymore, otherwise he would still be in the picture.

There could be a special treasure hunt set up for the fans - first one to find any mention or photo of Mick Taylor wins a prize!
Of all the great pics posted above by ErwinH (thanks!), I see no clear hint of Taylor anywhere, yet they give Ronnie a spotlight with one of his gaudy scribbled setlists boldly displayed?

I see a bunch of guitars nicely hanging there. Maybe I should lend our Les Paul Standard Tobacco Sunburst signed by ... Mick Taylor cool smiley

Nice story!
What to say? It's the fate of every Beatles fan alive. As long as The Rolling Stones keep rolling the history of the Beatles rolls with them and so it happens that a Dutch Beatles fan plays Rolling Stones music on maybe (since yesterday?) the most famous church tower organ for the time being. Millions of (mostly Stones fans, I guess) around the world have witnessed it spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
It's something Beatles fans can be proud of grinning smiley

very nice collection of photos, ErwinH. Like you say, from the "Gimme Shelter" exhibition.
However, I understood from different mails in this thread that people did get the impression that Mick Taylor was not present at the Unzipped exhibition. Do you have images that proof them wrong?

Mick Taylor was not mentioned at all at Exhibitionism,
and he's also not present at Unzipped...

Few days ago I was able to have a quick walk around Unzipped,
only 30 minutes.... tuesdaynight I'll go back again.

I think I saw one point where they forgot to erase Mick Taylor,
what's the prize exactly Hairball????

They still have my set of Decca Let It Bleed posters which includes one of Mick Taylor, also a Sticky Fingers US promo poster of mine.

The "Gimme Shelter" photo exhibit looks great - thanks for all the pics ErwinH!
Always interesting to see some of these obsolete 'places of worship' transformed to something useful again without tampering with any of the beautiful architecture.
I recall De Nieuwe Kerk at Dam Square in Amsterdam had been converted for the use of art exhibits, live classical music, etc., etc., etc.
There were at least several in London that I remember also, and there was even an old church in New York City that had been converted to a Pizza restaurant!

Anyhow, that one hanging banner in the old church w/lyrics to Wild Horses caught my eye..."Faith has been broken, tears must be cried..."
Also, plenty of nice pics of Mick Taylor. thumbs up

Apologies in advance if redundant, but are there any plans for these exhibitions to come to the USA anytime soon? Is there a link to a current touring schedule? Or is this a stationary exhibit? Or possibly am I confusing two or three separate events as one?

Those great photos are really making me think I should try to see this show. Thanks again for posting them!

Thanks
jb

Nice detective work ErwinH - thumbs up
But I never said there actually was a prize ha, I was only suggesting there "could be a prize" to make it funner for fans in search of the elusive Mick Taylor.
Maybe the organizers could have given away a guitar pick with Mick Taylor's name on it? Or a replica/copy of a Mick Taylor photo? Or a free digital download of a Stones tune from the Taylor era? lol
But since you played along and proved Taylor has not been erased from Stones history, the prize for you is a massive CONGRATULATIONS from all of the Mick Taylor fans around the world!smileys with beer

On Hairball's behalf I treat you on your favorite drink when I run into you, maybe in Groningen. I think he'll agree with that cool smiley
By showing these images you for sure caused many deep breaths of relief among the Mick Taylor fans among the Stones fans.
Why have doubts? SF, EOMS, GHS, IOR&R are the carriers of the Stones's second life and Mick T. Was the oh so important new blood.

Here you can find info about Corona in the Netherlands:

https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19

I can tell you... Groningen has the least infections in the Netherlands.
(but that doesn't mean you all should come here at once)

There's something weird in this text... or I missed something,
only for the Dutch...

Re: The Rolling Stones Exhibitionism - Unzipped
Posted by: georgie48 ()

For me it's the use of the word "recent".
Matt Clifford played horn on stage in the days of Bill Wyman, so in the early 90s. Tim Ries also has been with the band much longer than "recent". Denson replaced Bobbie Keys in 2014. Blondie Chaplin was on several tours. But well, the text just gives a very brief overview. No big deal.

Indeed a silly mistake. But some of the ones I mentioned are also not historically correct. I wonder who was responsible for the text. He/she should have "hired" you and some other diehard fan (me for instance grinning smiley) as correctors to double check all the written texts cool smiley
