Somewhere there's a perfume laboratory working flat out to produce Essence of Olympic and Genuine Edith Grove Stink to Mick's exacting standards - maybe Eau de Nellcote as well (wonder what that smells like?).

Thanks - that was an interesting read. I'm looking forward to Exhibitionism.

And as for the guitars that have plucked and strummed their way through the anthems of generations, Jagger drops a bombshell. ‘I didn’t keep any myself. I mean, other people kept ’em but I didn’t.

‘I don’t care about guitars at all, there’s no sentiment for me in guitars. I mean it’s all b******* – each one is the same as the next one.

Mick, Mick, Mick..."Each one is the same as the next one?" You just broke all your guitars' hearts. Seriously? No wonder you and Keith don't do joint interviews! I'd be happy to take any guitar you'd care to discard!

Just thought the same when I read the article via fb. He kept the clothes but guitars are bulls***? Sounds more like coming from a fashionista than from a musician.

Anyway, nice read and very much looking forward to next May in London. Just hope we don't really have to endure the smell of Ediths Groove. The "spine-tingling recreation of an ‘about to go on stage’ experience" sounds interesting.

I posted this on another thread but it also fits in here.
Al Kooper talks about recording with the Stones in 1968 at Olympic in which he mentions "the tables of like lamb chops and steaks and curries and vegetables, I mean, just a feast, a catered feast, another great idea for the studio."

Well damn that's nice to know - glad he's lending his expertise and extensive knowledge ! thumbs up
I was starting to think he may be have been completely 'photoshopped' out of the entire process.

Bill will reprise his role as the janitor from Video Rewind, and that may actually be Mick in a glass case.

Thanks for posting, nice read and I finally understand what Exhibitionism is about, can't say I'm very interested though, sounds like a jazzed up/animated version of the RnR Hall of Fame in Cleveland? Mind you it was pretty thrilling walking next to Mick's 1981 US tour clothes or down the aisle of Johnny Cash's blue tour bus ;-)

Enviable habiliments!

And Mick's line >>> "It doesn’t make any difference what guitar you play. It’s what you play that counts." <<< does make me think how surf star Kelly Slater said (in his memoir) he has blamed performance slumps on his surfboards when it was actually just him.

Bill should have been a librarian. He has amassed an encyclopedia of scrapbook material. amazing.

I am writing this whilst listening to Nothing on Me. I recommend turning the balance all the way to the RIGHT or FADE RIGHT when listening to Nothing on Me for the ultimate GIBSON Keith Note jingle experience.

Yes the guitar matters.
Bad guitar players can't hear and/or don't understand the qualities of a good guitar.

cheap guitars don't stay in tune and don't resonate or have a full ringing sound.

A great article and all very Mick. As usual the work he puts into these events is immense and I'm not surprised to hear that Charlie's getting involved too. This sounds like it is going to be a brilliant exhibition and I'm really looking forward to it.

Ohhhhhhh would I love to be at the opening of Exibition (inism?) in April in London. Travel seems impossible for me, don't even have a passport. (I am fit and able, nor on the lam.)
Oh well. Looking forward to reports.

Thanks for posting that this Exhibition will travel to other major cities! I would rather catch it closer to home....well, actually I would RATHER see it in London but that may be out of the question next year. NYC would be very nice! I thought it was interesting that Mick mentioned capturing the smells that evoke certain memories , like the curry and fish & chips smells from the 70's recording sessions...and the whiskey and Keith's socks from the very early days...probably Edith Grove roomie years!! Should be interesting to see exactly how many smells they incorporate into this Exhibition!! ( and which rooms go with which scents!).
