Tough choice between DF, GOMC, and SFM for me. I'll have to think on this for a bit...like it's going to matter which one I choose. I'm so excited to be going, I don't case anyway. They can play Popeye and I'll still be happy. grinning smiley

Gosh, they're so rarely played I don't know which ultra rare deep deep catalogue number to choose.

GOOMC as its the only one on the list I haven't had live. Would love to hear the guitars live on that one. As it so happens as I type this I am watching them play that on the from the vault 75 show right now.
Guess there goes my chance for Beast of Burden....

My guess is it'll be Dead Flowers, regardless of the vote!

Like A Rolling Stone appears to have been performed the least on recent tours, so that would get my vote.

Big Al, posting from the departure lounge at Toronto Pearson Airport.

Yeah that's it. I think it's a bit strange they are making people vote on a SF song after hinting we were going to be getting (a lot) more of them on this tour anyway.

peace

Make Mick work to sing all these varied lyrics, this one aint no "Ya Gotta Move"

Once upon a time you dressed so fine
You threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?
People’d call, say, “Beware doll, you’re bound to fall”
You thought they were all kiddin’ you
You used to laugh about
Everybody that was hangin’ out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be without a home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You’ve gone to the finest school all right, Miss Lonely
But you know you only used to get juiced in it
And nobody has ever taught you how to live on the street
And now you find out you’re gonna have to get used to it
You said you’d never compromise
With the mystery tramp, but now you realize
He’s not selling any alibis
As you stare into the vacuum of his eyes
And ask him do you want to make a deal?

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

You never turned around to see the frowns on the jugglers and the clowns
When they all come down and did tricks for you
You never understood that it ain’t no good
You shouldn’t let other people get your kicks for you
You used to ride on the chrome horse with your diplomat
Who carried on his shoulder a Siamese cat
Ain’t it hard when you discover that
He really wasn’t where it’s at
After he took from you everything he could steal

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

Princess on the steeple and all the pretty people
They’re drinkin’, thinkin’ that they got it made
Exchanging all kinds of precious gifts and things
But you’d better lift your diamond ring, you’d better pawn it babe
You used to be so amused
At Napoleon in rags and the language that he used
Go to him now, he calls you, you can’t refuse
When you got nothing, you got nothing to lose
You’re invisible now, you got no secrets to conceal

How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone?

I agree. They should play "Dead Flowers" outside of the vote at this show .... and put up some songs which are played less often to vote for.

I had "Dead Flowers" pegged for this show at the start of the tour. Maybe "Wild Horses" also. They do seem to like performing cover songs in Tennessee, though. We'll see.

The first time I ever saw a Stones show was St. Louis in 97. I was 16 and a lifelong fan at that point. My dad took me to show and both of us were pumped about seeing them do Star Star or Respectable, the two top fan vote songs. Then suddenly they announced Waiting On A Friend and surprise surprise Joshua Redman shows up. We all got screwed. Would Redman have played a sax solo on Star Star if that had "won" the vote?

This time I am taking my dad who hasn't been since Detroit 2002. I predict we get screwed again and that we get Dead Flowers with Brad Paisley. Brad can really play excellent guitar. I am fine with having him come out and play a country tune, but to sabotage the fan vote to do so is just unnecessary.

I was really hoping they wouldn't do this, but apparently I am wrong. If they play Street Fighting Man or Get Off My Cloud, it will be a miracle. If they prove me wrong, I will be thrilled. Absolutely thrilled. As it stands, it looks like this show will likely get a Columbus-style setlist with a sabotaged fan vote.

They're not very subtle, are they? The farce continues....

I am with Drake. SFM would be awesome to hear as a Fan vote. However, I suspect that Dead Flowers has already "Won".
I pray that Nashville does not mimic Columbus. That would be so lame...In fact, it may convince me that this show "could be my last".

I look at the song vote lists as songs they have rehearsed and "could" play if they were inclined to to so. Not only do I think they should publish the vote tally on their site, they should include each winner permanently in the set list for the rest of the tour. Of course they then might just end up putting 4 warhorses on the list every time by the middle of the tour. grinning smiley

But I agree, if Brad Paisly guests on Dead Flowers it will be pretty obvious what's going on. I hope something else wins and they have him guest on another tune to somewhat restore my faith.

peace

I think the song vote functions more as a way for them to see what people are into that they might play for future shows even if they have already decided what they are playing at that particular show. Otherwise I don't see what the point would be in doing it at all.

I'm sure they look at the results and, as you suggest, get a feel for what people that vote want to hear.

But I think the "marketing" point is that it gives the impression that people going to the show can actually be involved in the show through selecting a song. But considering the vote is an international affair the reality is that people like us who vote provide the data for every show regardless of whether we attend or not.

It would be interesting to look at the geographical data on people who vote. I suspect like iorr the majority of votes come from the East Coast USA, followed by the West coast and western Europe and considering this is more of a middle America tour, I doubt the concert goers are very well represented.

peace

Bound to be Dead Flowers with Brad Paisley.

I actually voted for SFM, but got a feeling both will be in the show.
