when I became 12 years old on december 18th 1982 I ask for a Rolling Stones album, so the people next door gave me what became my first Rolling Stones record.
Between the buttons, UK edition offcourse.
been a fan ever since and think this is one of the most underrated albums.

The piano player - it is obviously a session man. Must be Nitzsche. Whoever it is, got a lot of space on this album. Maybe "My Obsession" is Stu. It has his odd phrasings: that behind the beat lag, that Stu often used.
This album is full of very good songs IMO.
"All Sold Out " - that chorus, when it climbs into the main ascending line "all sold out I'd never seen" - are you kidding me?
And I have always thought that "Complicated" is a great unrealized track. The rhythm, the percussion breaks, that crazy little organ back there, and then have a Saxophone section instead of the fuzz guitar. I think it could be another "out of Control".
'Back Street Girl" is gorgeous, and "She Smiled Sweetly' is very Punk Rock in its realization. "yesterday's Papers" - again incredible harmonies.
:My Obsession" is up there with "Whos Driving Your Plane" and "Still a Fool" and "Memo from Turner".

Brian also played piano.

Some of the piano parts is just basic stuff.

Still, looking long and hard at the UK Track listing, the original album as they, and production team, envisioned it...it would still work for me.
Yes, even with the criticism of the recording process and them experimenting
with varying styles....

Had the unofficial rule in UK allowed singles to be on albums I'm sure they would have included LSTNT and Ruby Tuesday.

They completely fit in with the mood of the album, unlike other single sides such as Child Of The Moon in relation to Beggars Banquet.

Great idea! I've often thought about editing my album playlists to include the b-sides etc. as those songs get neglected / not played enough by me.

Example: Who's Driving Your Plane, I've probably only played that one 1/20th as much as the other tracks from the album.

There are these great photos, which were made by Gered Mankowitz in the early morning in a park in London. One of these is the cover of this brilliant and underrated album.

I still doubt that If You Let Me is from these sessions, it sounds so much more from the previous Aftermath sessions.

I very much like "Who's Driving Your Plane?". The rest of those songs I don't really care about.

I always though it was an Aftermath leftover, too.

I love almost all of those songs.

These 4 not so much

Something happened to me
Who's been sleeping here
Please go Home
Whos driving you plane

The last one sounds so much like Spider and the Fly to me. Is this weird?

Ruby Tuesday = classic song & of its time

Massively get a vibe of this with ‘Driving me too Hard’ from HD, another great song. Really wish they’d played this & ‘get close’ live to be honest

No. In find it rather annoying to be honest. Part The Monkees, part fake chaotic rock, part psychedelic strange noises. Very different from the heavy blues rock of "Who's Driving Your Plane" which is what they are so good at (it's like a early sibling of "Black Limousine") and which I love.
Apart from "Who's Driving Your plane", I kind of like "Let's Spend The Night Together" on the Still Life album and Ruby Tuesday is cute. But the rest annoys me. It's the one album I could do without. I rather listen to TSMR or DW (skipping a few songs here and there of course).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Ruby Tuesday and Let’s Spend the Night Together are great songs.I can’t think of many in the last 30 years they have released that are as good. And She Smiled Sweetly , Yesterday’s Papers,Connection, and Back Street Girl are excellent
