OT: Toronto Lady Cocaine Eyes Deactivated

What happened?
She started a thread about her travel plans since she had information about the possible surprise show in Toronto.
The thread was closed.
And now her profile has been deactivated.

I will surely miss her (a lot).
Because I really liked her (a lot): we had a few things in common.

Bjornulf do you have any idea what happened?
I can't imagine you banned her since she did not use inappropriate language in that thread. She never did anything like that.
Did she deactivate it herself Bjornulf? I would appreciate your answer, thanks in advance.

Let me know Cocaine Eyes if you're still out there reading the news here...

F*ck that.

I'm just thinking out loud here, and I'm probably wrong, but CE did kind of protest against BV in most of her posts (telling him how things should be, using emoticons to show how hopeless the forum policy was etc.).

What I am sure about, however, was that she didn't necessarily always mean it the way it came across – and there were some things here she just didn't understand, seemingly.

Anyways, I hope she'll be back. Good long-time poster. As far as I know (not from first-hand experience, though), one cannot deactivate oneself from this forum.

That's a shame.
Do people get "deactivated"'often?
I guess this is confirmation there is a Toronto show?

To be honest, she might be a nice lady face to face, but she would be better off running her own fans site.

I don't think she meant a lot of things the way they came across, but when you post on a fans site, you can't make up your own rules about how things should be done and BV is doing it all wrong. It's just not on.

Hope she does come back with a different attitude.

She sometimes expressed (mild) criticism because she didn't understand some of his rules. Nothing wrong with that! And when I compare that to some people on this site saying 'you're a paranoid sociopath' just for having not the same opinion (and those guys are still posting here!) I think CE is absolutely one of the most friendly people I've met on this site.

Last time I checked in w/ her latest thread (now appparently deleted) was about 12 hours ago. Did she post something particularly revelatory or offensive after that?

Yes, the Stones wrote a song about it. It's called Undercover of the Night.

I've been told off in the past when BV has sent me an e-mail as it is not hidden.

I think about what he has said, and I took notice, and on reflection I probably had said something out of place.

The rules here aren't strict and quite easy to abide by them.

I'm don't think at all that she didn't understand the rules, she just repeatedly choose to ignore them and she kinda flaunted that. Still, certainly not as bad as the way some others have behaved here and I think she is most certainly a nice person. I assume there is more to it than what we know. The excitment and exhaustion of tours can make even fans testy...my hope is that when things calm down, CE will be back. I'm sorry Dreamer, I know that you were her comrade, so to speak. smiling smiley

No. She never was offensive to anyone.
She just didn't understand all of BV's rules and questioned them like she did in one of her last posts:

Is there a rule here that you aren't allowed to give too much information before bv (or you) have secured tickets or something? Why on earth would you be scared about this post being deleted?

1. Insiders do not give out EXACT info until the promo people give the go ahead.

2. Deleting this post - I was afraid BV would merge it (AGAIN) or delete it because it doesn't say something like "Palais Royale, 16 August 2002, tix $10.00, on sale at 8 am on the day of the show".

3. And you've sort of hit the nail on the head regarding tickets and why the site owner never gives out info while he's in line at a certain venue. That has always puzzled me. Why not help out his faithful followers?confused smiley

ETA: It would be nice to have a modicum of appreciation......yes, even for my vague hints. Fans aren't stupid; they know how to follow the dots.

Of course it wasn't deleted! The site owner was already IN THAT CITY and word would be spreading like wildfire! Same with Belly Up (which was a PRIVATE affair). He 'just happened' to visit Belly Up the day before.......confused smiley

Kudos to Roller99. smiling smiley

@dreamer: i totally agree with you.

i also can't imagine why she got banned.
she was the one who really shared good stories, infos and hints with all of us here and not only to a limited number of 'insiders'.

was great fun to follow her posts.
hoping for some sort of comeback, but i'm not sure about that...

That's nice of you to say latebloomer smiling smiley
I think she was just questioning those rules because she believed passing the word about a possible surprise gig and stuff like that was more important...she questioned that sometimes her threads or posts with information were buried in tour threads.
She was always ready to pass the news about things like that and it didn't matter to her she wasn't gonna be at the show - see the Echoplex info; she was the one who started that thread...
To paraphrase KR: telling others and see the excitement was her high...
With an all areas laminate around your neck you could bring people inside and even backstage (I did that sometimes with good friends or family) so when I was on the road with them I had similar experiences; the joy people had when after it was sold out and not having a ticket they were still able to get inside...when possible I did that for people who had no tickets and that was great. She had the same fun in helping people. We've been there both and I'm out (sometimes I still get some news though) but she still gets news frequently. And when we do we like to pass it through and read the enthusiasm the next day like in Cristiano's story.

Point no 3 is interesting. Hmmm, keeping all the info for himself. Doesn't want anyone else getting ahead of him?

Because someone has been asked not to spread the word prematurely, or at all.
See point 1 in CE's post above. It's not rocket surgery.

I feel bad for CE, who seems to be a sweet person, and I hope she's back with us soon,
but my take on this is close to latebloomer's.

Again, I would say to Cocaine Eyes to start up her own Rolling Stones fan site, and I wonder how she would deal with fans who disagree with how she runs it.

You always get a few awkward people and you also get a few who overstep the mark.

Has anyone actually met her at any gigs in North America ,or anywhere else ?

She is obviously a fan , but there are a few here from Toronto area who may have met her there. I have certainly met many fans on IORR over the years including a lot from my home town in the Kingston/Richmond/London area.

Must be at least one person here who knows her ?

Like I said, she may be a very nice and kind person, but some people can be different and confrontational behind a laptop.

Re: OT: Toronto Lady Cocaine Eyes Deactivated

It shouldn't be hard for CE to be activated again as a member with a couple of minor adjustments from her side - for instance not making separate threads about these things, when BV has repeatedly stated or signaled that he doesn't like that.

It doesn't matter whether we like that or not, as this is his forum. Stuff like that gets picked up by fans even though it isn't in a separate thread.

A lovely lady with a good sense of humour, but she was definitely passive aggressive and pushed the envelope.

Even starting her last thread by suggesting it was going to get deleted by BV so 'hurry up' and get her information (I'm paraphrasing). I'm not sure about the need to 'pummel the guy' who runs this forum repeatedly. I don't understand what the point of that is. If you disagree so vociferously with everything, then just don't post.

I think it's just about deciding whether or not you're comfortable living within certain guidelines of decorum. If you're not, that's fine but don't act continuously surprised.
