Look at what they rehearsed - the tour will rock!

Some Girls, Shattered, Bitch, Just My Imagination, All Down The Line, Get Off Of My Cloud, Oh No Not You Again,...

Wow! That makes my heart beat faster, sounds like a great setlist!
Imagine Rough Justice and ONNYA in between those classic Stones songs and cover (Just My Imag..).
This has potential to be a great rock concert, and I don't see them adding much horns to neither ONNYA or RJ!

The theme seems to be Some Girls and the new album!

This sounds just perfect IMO. I hope they will practice Time Wait For No One, She Was Hot, High Wire, Let It Loose, Sway, etc. I guess this time they will knock our socks off big time.

before you get too excited - just because they've made a pass at any of these songs doesn't mean we'll ever hear them. dozens of songs that were attempted in past rehearsals never saw the light of day....

Sounds pretty cool. Also heard they were rehearsing As Tears Go By, that would be interesting to hear live. I just hope if they play Shattered or Bitch that the songs are not dominated by the backing singers. Some recent versions of those songs are bad.

I also hope they give She Was Hot a chance.

As Tears Go By and Lady Jane would be welcome ballads...

Yeah, I know that. But they rehearsed something like 80 songs last time - and only about 12 so far this time. So I guess the chance is bigger that they play these.

they rehearsed about 120 songs in summer 2002. We heard less than two thirds of them in concert - still a good amount, though

some gems that were tried but not used were King Bee, Lady Jane, She was hot etc.

I dont think the setlists will be as varied this time as the tour is an arena/stadium tour behind a new album as opposed to the three types of different shows attempted last time.

Cheers,

Wouter, I found them at Shidoobee, there is a section about Toronto and then a list with the rehearsed songs.

oh - you can bet they've rehearsed way more than is being reported anywhere. the eavesdroppers don't have the access they did last time. I would bet they've taken a shot at between 40-50 songs by now.

Why can't they handle King Bee?

Who said they can't handle King Bee? It's just your basic blues song. My bet is that the Stones will perform Back of My Hand (their new blues song) in lieu of doing the usual Mannish Boys/Make Love to You/Rooster in the "blues slot."

How about Bittersweet Symphony? That rocked at Live 8.

It seems very hard to have bootlegs of these rehersals.

Any news about this subject?

i'm sure there won't be any boots. the security is tight. there haven't been any recordings of studio rehearsals leaked since '78....

ยด78???

And what about Voodoo Stew and Voodoo Brew...?

There were also rehearsals in 89, and the Bridges tour, the bootleg Closer than Close. Also, in 95 for the European leg of the Voodoo tour.

Just nothing in 81, 94, 99 or Licks.

Stew and Brew weren't tour rehearsals. Forgot about Closer than Close - but those were just a handful of trax, albeit good ones.

Voodoo Stew and Brew aren't tour rehearsals, though, Marquess.
Hound Dog, i have the Steel Wheels and B2B rehearsals - are they from the final run-throughs at the opening-night stadiums, or from the more secluded longer-term rehearsal sites? and i'd love to hear more about the 95 rehearsals that are in circulation, if you care to elaborate. :E

(and while i'm here, Hound Dog honey: are you ever going to answer my question about How Do You Do Africa?
[iorr.org] and [iorr.org]
pleeeease please please ...)

with sssoul, sorry about that. I just did a search and found your post with that question to me. I am trying to think which boot I have that on, I think maybe its The Lone Ranger vs. the Little Blue Boy. Its sort of a mix of different songs from various places. It could even be the same version that you have. If you like I can send you a copy. I'll look into it tonight when I home.

About 95 I was just referring to the extra stuff from Stripped. They did a bunch of songs that they eventually played on the European leg of the Voodoo tour. I am sure you have heard this stuff before.

thanks Hound Dog!

ah so - the Stripped stuff! indeed i do know it. thanks for clarifying.
i'll be thrilled to hear where you find How Do You Do Africa - in fact i'm so thrilled i've already sent you an email. :E

and now just to get this thread back on topic:
yes, you bet the tour will ~*rock!*~

Havo says "I didnt like "Bitch" on the last tours."

I can't agree. At Stade De France (2003) in my opinion "Bitch" was one of the highlights (like SFM, Satisfaction, JJF, and the ...bluesy version of Miss you). But i can understand you if you don't like the song.

I have found that "Bitch" on every tour since 72 is a hit or miss affair. The speed has something to do with it. Sometimes it's too fast. But the main thing I miss at times are the punches. The snare, bass, horns all together on those tow bam bam hits at the end of a phrase. When it's not steel, rockhard it don't work.

I just read on StonesDoug's Board that our boys are rehearsing " Far Away Eyes"! I WILL take a pee break for the first time EVER at a Stones concert if they play that song! Anyone else hate that song? At first when "Some Girls" came out I thought it was cute and campy, which I guess it is in a corny country way, but with the TONS of material to draw upon, WHY, I ask would they consider this song?
