«The whole set-up (at RCA) was terrific. We completely insulated ourselves from the outside. The boys recorded for fifteen hours non-stop, from 11 AM to 4 AM, and I spent another three hours in the studio overdubbing and editing the masters. This session has produced a new Rolling Stones sound, and certainly brought out the best in Keith, whose guitar playing was magnificent. The only outsider was Jack Nitzsche, who played a toy piano and was able to make it sound like any instrument you like; on some tracks, it even sounds like a trombone».

- Andrew Oldham, 1964

I love this album. The Berry numbers are a shining joy, and it's where I first heard Mona.
Which has always sounded to me how the burning bush must've sounded to Moses.

I love the Rolling Stones.

The track listing on NOW resembles No 2. I bought NOW first out of these two albums, and hence it has a special place in my heart.

The Berry numbers are indeed excellent. Down The Road Apiece... Nuff said!

This is one of my all-time favorites. Let It Bleed is the first album I remember listening to at age 5 on a fisherprice record player. This was the second album. Blues, soul, rocknroll.. Such a great album.

During the Licks tour they did themed setlists. I was secretly hoping they'd do NOW but instead they stuck to LIB, Exile and SF for most shows.

This is tangible evidence that CDs don't wear out!

Sucha great collection of songs, terrific cover art ... You can't catch me! Rooster!! Hook !!! ROAD!!!!!!

This, the first and Out of Our Heads US, in no particular order, are my fav RS records of the 60s (yes, that's including Banquet and Bleed, and I've already said that Bleed on my book rates higher than Fingers ...)

This is Stones perfection. Get rid of Off The Hook and it's the best Stones blues LP of all.

I would actually love to hear 1981 or 2015 Stones redo this LP start to finish. Minus Hook...

You don't sound completely hooked, Munich?

Hook and Boardwalk were regrettable decisions on their respective LPs

This is clearly, some of my favorite music by them, the first 4 albums.

I will write later my thoughts about this album, maybe you could integrate this one: [www.discogs.com] in your project. "Around and Around" was the second Stones album in Germany and France with a noticeably different set list.

Great album. Certainly in the top 10 or possibly even top 5 studio albums of all time for them.

I thought about doing selected compilations later. If so, AAA is a safe bet.

The third album in the US in a short period. Worth buying for Europeans, too, due to the different versions of "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love" and "Heart of Stone". One of their all time classics is only here to find on a regular album: "Little Red Rooster", the same applies to "Surprise, Surprise". Maybe the best album before "Out of Our Heads".

The cassette version of this album is interesting. The songs are in a different order, and the freaky/different version of ENSTL is included. Cool!

Man, this new band, them Rollin' Stones or something, isn't that a promising group of musicians?

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Their discography was a bit confusing at that time. Is this the UK or the US version? This is their second album, right?
I know a similar second album, but without Mona (which was on their first), without Little Red Rooster and - I think - without Heart of Stone.
As such, I never liked their second album very much, apart from Down The Road Apiece, which is perfection. The other remaining songs I always found a bit weak, compared to what was on their first album and their third (which would be "Out Of Their Heads", the UK version), which I both like very much.

It's their third US album. 12X5 was their second.

Their second european album was «No 2».

Was there any reason why they had this odd discography those first years? Or did all bands have similar tactics? The Beatles, as far as know, brought out the same albums on both sides of the atlantic. But maybe they were more succesful right from the start in the US?

The Beatles had different albums in the US as well.
