Why not ? No plugged guitars, no Mick's running, no Keith set.

This could be a set list

Let It Bleed
Shine a Light
Factory Girl
Dead Flowers
Sweet Virginia ( tribute to Bobby Keys - C'mon Keith I want to hear the chorus)
Lady Jane
Waiting On a Friend
Back Street Girl
Far Away Eyes
Love in Vain
YCAGWYW
Country Honk ( tribute to Ry Cooder)
Angie
Sister Morphine
Till The Next Goodbye
Blinded By Love
Street Fighting Man
Streets Of Love
Gimme Shelter
Jumping Jack Flash

Encore

Winter
Satisfaction

You lost me at "no Keith set." An acoustic performance (though I don't know about a whole tour) would not be a bad thing, but 'You Got The Silver' would be a must in your setlist, and why not acoustic versions of other Keith songs? In fact, any Rolling Stones song could be re-arranged for acoustic guitars/ instruments. They don't have to be all ballads and country songs.

I would love this approach! Acoustics have always done wonders for the Stones and their music. Not sure they would ever devote a tour to the idea but I'd settle for an acoustic set. I don't think the Stones realize how much they truly shine in this format and how many fans are pining for more of it.

Was it Paradiso where they took a more acoustic approach to the show? No coincidence that it was one of their best live shows in many years, wish it would be released in some official form.

peace

I may add:

Meet Me At The Bottom
Coming Down Again
Already Over Me
Beast Of Burden (1995 session acoustic version was great)
Let's Spend The Night Together (1995 session acoustic version was great)
Following The River (With Mick playing the piano)
Out Of Tears

When the Stones can't be the Stones anymore...then they can change into something like this. For now...I don't want them to change at all...other than the ticketing, prices, locations & setlists of course.

Maybe in their 80s at a Las Vegas lounge...but who am I kidding...they'd still pull 20,000 in their 80s...if the price was right.

it just won't work – at least not for an audience of 20.000+ that wants to be entertained

You know this would be a perfect new gimmick for the B Stage...an acoustic set right in the middle of the stadium with the lights down. That would be perfect and provide something "new" for folks to talk about.

Why not ? No plugged guitars,

GREAT IDEA!!! As long as it is one living room at a time, with a max of 8 people sitting around as the guys sit around and jam, it would be cool, but it might be a pricey ticket, probably about 1.2 million per ticket?

TONIGHT!
THE SITTING STONES PLAY YOUR LIVING ROOM!

maybe they could sell 3-4 lucky dip tickets per show where some people
have to watch through the windows if they dont luck into a seat on the sofa.

They already did that during The Voodoo Lounge tour. Check out the DVD.

because we have electricity now.

we could also play without lights but probably not necessary.

You guys who don't want the Stones to touch their acoustics should go back and have a critical listen to Let It Bleed and Exile. The use of acoustics on those records is shockingly good. Yes I know they were often combined with the electrics but they still sound amazingly good...stand out good on some of the tunes. smoking smiley

The way the acoustic comes in on YCAGWYW and Loving Cup is sublime, not much can replace those shimmering sweet rhythm tones. I could go on.......

peace

I was mostly kidding.

I think an acoustic set would be great, within a broader show.

hey! here's an idea! instead of stones songs they select the best gems from the Carpenters songbook. only for this tour mick has all the roast beef sandwiches he needs to perform for 2 hours.

It's a bad idea because the Stones aren't ARTISTS anymore, and they DON'T CARE ANYMORE.

It's not like they're Neil Young or Dylan or Springsteen...vibrant artists who are aging gracefully yet still finding a way to remain relevant and creative.

The Stones are just entertainers now. They're here to play the juke box hits, pretend that 40 years haven't gone by, and collect a massive paycheck.

They could do something like an appearance on Austin City Limits where they show some different sides. They won't, of course, but they could.
