I'll kick things off, because I've got a Lucky Dip for one of the No Filter shows, so really curious to know how it all actually works in practice !

Seeing as they've been doing these for the last couple of excursions, is there any level of consistency among the different towns/venues on a tour about how the whole 'ticket pick-up and escorting right into the venue' thing works - or does it vary from place to place ?

Anyone who's done Lucky Dips in the past care to share their experience(s) ?

It's been a lot more than the last couple of excursions. It began on the 2013 Fifty & Counting North American Tour, as a way of filling unsold OTT priced seats. As it proved to be successful and popular, it's been retained. Logic would suggest that if Lucky Dipping a slow selling show, you stand a better chance of scoring a good spot. Personally I'm lucky dipping Paris 1 & 2. Hoping to be slotted into Carre Or, priced at 331.5€ !!!

As for on the day logistics, in Paris I can collect from 5pm. Pairs of tickets are handed out in sealed envelopes with names on them, so what you get is predetermined.

Shure that there are name on the envelopes? In Zurich it was random. They took a sealed envelope in the order you came.

Just what I read somewhere. Maybe it is unmarked envelopes. This is my 1st LD experience so I will go with your story, unless they've changed it since 14OF

I'm more interested in whether there are opportunities to give them (or offer them) to other people outside the venue AFTER you've picked them up - which is the situation I'll be faced with ! Reason being, I've got another ticket ......

in Berlin there were no names on the envelops. They were just handed out of the box. I guess they were mixed and thus the results were random.

That happened to me in San Diego 2 years ago. A couple of friends from Germany tried the luck with their LDs but the regular tickets they bought were better than the LDs they got, so they gave them to me. In the end I gave my regular ticket to a friend of a friend and ended with 2 LDs (located in the same area as my regular ticket).

In Oslo in 2014 I picked up my LD ticket at a dedicated box office. Then I could do whatever I please. The venue entrance was on the other side of the arena. I could go to the main entrance or I could even go back to the city.
But it seems that different venues have different ideas for LD pick up policy.

It's probably not possible to leave the venue after receiving the LD-Tickets because the Promoter wants to prevent that these Tickets will be resold for a much higher price.

Thanks for that. I think I'll possibly have to wait until the first few shows of the No Filter tour have come & gone and people can comment on their most recent experiences of Lucky Dip tickets on this particular excursion of theirs, although as you say - the rules & regulations applied in actual practice might of course vary from place to place.

Yeah, it might depend on a venue.
I was not in Madrid in 2014 but a friend of mine picked up 1 LD (in Spain they were not sold in pairs).
I don't know if one could leave the place after getting the ticket but he got Golden Circle and was given the wristband already at LD box office.
In that case if you need to sell the ticket the wristband can't be too tight.

Also if sold in pairs I think you need to pick up tickets with your partner.

Which is exactly why I'm asking the question ......... because as we all know, rules are often not enforced in practice and/or don't work and can be circumvented !

Hi everyone.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, are the Lucky Dip Tickets allocated on a first come first served basis, i.e., the better spots go to people who cue erarly or is the particular place where a certain holder of a LD will get placed already fixed before he goes to collect them?
Thank you!

I have gotten L Dips at 5 different venues and was never escorted inside. Each time I picked them up and just walked away. I could do what ever I wanted too with the Tix.

Exactly ... I bought the LDs as insurance against not being able to get the tickets I wanted, and will only use them if they turn out to be pit tickets ! Otherwise, no chance of using them, will stick with the others I got !

I'd bought LDT for the Berlin show in 2014. We went to the special counter. There was a list on all ticket holders. I just said my name, showed my ID, got an envelope with tickets, and that was it. As early as after opening the envelope we found what sort of tickets we had. They were not too bad seating tickets these days.

We went into the venue after that and were never asked for some more identification or even escorted in/out again.

Zurich 2014 a friend of mine picked them up at 4 pm (he got Golden Circle) and he went to an entrance far away from the counter because his friends were there. No problem at all.

I picked up mine at about 7 pm. It would haven been possible to walk away. No problem. But my godchild and I did wear the wristbands and took the nearest entrance. I gave my regular ticket to the mother of my godchild. Inside we exchanged. And nobody did ask her about the missing wristband. Her husband and her daughter had also LD's and tickets for a seated area far away from her and my godchild. So she saw a few empty seats next to her, called her husband to come over and asked security.. nooo problem. That was a good thing. A whole family could afford it to see the Stones. We never exepected that.

Since another friend also got Golden Circle at 4 pm I could imagine that tickets handed out earlier were the better ones. But I am not sure.

We wished to get seats for the family (children from 8 to 10 years) and got them, so we were happy.

Very lucky! Congratulations!

So: I think I read of 2 IORR's that used LD in Hamburg, both were in the No Filter pit.

That's 2 out of 2!

Anyone else had a similar/different experience? We'd like to hear. Also, were the envelopes at random or named?
