Lucky Dips were a good idea

Pulled 2 VIP for INDY last night. Step-son and his wife pulled Gold.

This was my Pittsburgh LD location. Couldn't even see the screens. My name was printed on the ticket envelope. It's a gamble.

IN Milwaukee I had two pairs of Lucky Dips.

I walked up by myself checked my ID they handed me both sets and I walked away NO escort in. I Hung around that area for the next 3 hours and never saw one person get escorted in.

We pulled VIPs in Indy. We were absolutely thrilled. They began handing out around 4pm I believe, and there was no escort into the speed track. Much different than what was indicated initially via email leading up to the event. We saw Gold pulled, and we got VIPs. So thrilled.

Most people I inquired with trying to find the Lucky Dip area had know idea what LDs even were. Designed for the Stones fan who just want to be there, and at this show, Lucky Dips worked out perfectly for a couple hardcore fans. Had a great time!

Pulled Silver in Indy. Sister pulled Gold. Found a nice security gaurd to let us into Gold as well. LUCKY!

Do you need a printout of the LD email, with your confirmation number?

Or can you just show your id, cc used for purchase and confirmation number written down?

You're not supposed to need the printout Ming, but I would bring it with you. I didn't have mine in Pittsburgh and the check in guy sent us back and forth to the customer service guy, who said we didn't need one, only to go back to check in again. The two guys were arguing over it and we were in the middle, running back and forth. We did end up with great seats, maybe because we were one of the last to be given an envelope. But it might not work out the same way for you.

Oh, man, from the picture it looks like you're higher than the stadium! On the bright side, the price was right, looks like a beautiful night and you got to take an amazing photo.

I was 4 rows from the roof. It was more amusing, no need to get angry over it. Considering we got dropped off at the gate 15 minutes before they went on, we did not have much invested.

Because it's also possible to buy Lucky Dip tickets for the No Filter Tour, i was wondering what are your experiences with those kind of tickets?

I just saw one picture from a LD-place very high in the stadium. But is there also a chance to have LD tickets in the pit or general standing..? Or? Anyone?

I've always had a good experience with Lucky Dips. On the Zip Code tour ended up with lower bowl for Nashville and Pittsburgh (these were originally priced for $300-350 if I believe). My friends got Diamond Circle in Vienna in 2014. It's worth the gamble, IMHO! For most shows, with current pricing, you can't get any worse than general standing and they will be still cheaper than face value!

Great to read your story, wickerman. I bought LD too, for Spielberg show. And I am wondering - its not a stadium, it Will with huge capacity of people. there is some really bad view place? Some of you bought Lucky dip for outdoor venue?

In the end it just comes down to how much you want to see. Or if you just plain want to see them at all. If you do and don't want to spend the money, take the shot. The worst that happens is you are in the worst seats in the house but still there. Granted, thats a better scenario in an arena than in a stadium.

I mean, when you look at it objectively its the stupidest thing. I'm still paying a good deal of money, or did or that 50th tour at $90, to sit in the upper deck, 10 rows from the back. Something I KNEW would be the case. But they had Mick Taylor and they were the cheapest tickets and I COULD have ended up anywhere so I took the shot. I don't regret it, at all, cause those seats in an arena were absolutely fine. But when I look at it critically, its basically they got me to throw away $90 cause they made you "feel lucky." In no way am I mad about that either, its just the truth. And to it I honestly say "bravo boys." Its a genius tactic.

First...which concert are you going to? In my past experience the Lucky Dip Tickets could be collected after the gates opened. I don't know if this was the case at all venues.

It's usually from 1 hour prior to gates opening on show day, right up to show time. It will be on your original email at time of purchase. I'm Lucky Dipping Paris 1 & 2.

I bought Luvky Dip for Austria, Spielberg. Information in e-mail is '
Your tickets are now being prepared for you. We will inform you as soon as your tickets are ready for service.' and 'Pickup at evening box-office'. So maybe exact information will be in a day of concert. BTW, in this situation, tickets are not sold out, there is a chance for good place or only sitting 'on a roof' places?

Spielberg has no roof. With Lucky Dips, you have a far better chance of getting good places at slower selling shows with expensive top tickets. Lucky Dippers can hope to do very well at the 3 German shows plus Spielberg, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

I'll kick things off, because I've got a Lucky Dip for one of the No Filter shows, so really curious to know how it all actually works in practice !

Seeing as they've been doing these for the last couple of excursions, is there any level of consistency among the different towns/venues on a tour about how the whole 'ticket pick-up and escorting right into the venue' thing works - or does it vary from place to place ?

Anyone who's done Lucky Dips in the past care to share their experience(s) ?

I have 3 times Lucky Dip in different cities cities, and what I understood is that you have to pick your tickets with your guest at 17.00h. And your have to go to the waiting line and your not supposed to leave the line. (So you can't sell your tickets). That was how went for me this way in Oslo 2014

I had Lucky Dip in Zurich in 2014 and you could collect the tickets a few minutes after the gates opened. We were NOT escorted into the venue and as we had dipped seat tickets we went for a walk around the stadium and got in an hour later. There were many Lucky Dippers around our seats because the section wasn't completely sold. This will be the same thing this year as there are a lot of seats available at the same section. But I saw that some people were lucky and got Front of Stage tickets.

The second time I had Lucky Dip tickets was in Las Vegas 2016...unfortunately the first show

Well in my case, the Lucky Dip tickets were an insurance policy, just in case I couldn't get the places I really wanted. As it happens, I managed to get what I wanted eventually, so I'm now just wondering what opportunities there are for picking the Lucky Dips up - but then getting rid of them as cheap tickets to anyone who wants them, because I won't actually be using them myself !

I had lucky dip tickets for Berlin three years ago. The was a seperate entrance at the side of the main entrance. You had to show a photo ID and the transaction code (maybe your credit card, too, but I'm not sure about that). There was a box with closed envelops holding the ticket. Everbody was handed an envelop and then you entered the venue. The tickets were regular tickets – the only difference was the price that was printed on them. The tickets also had the number of the block you were asigned to on them.
Since Berlin Waldbühne has only five different blocks (front of stage, frist, second and third ring and VIP) there was no problem and everbody got more of less good seats (especially since there is GA within these blocks).
Well, I got a ticket for the third ring (i.e. the upper and farest ring from stage, but I was able to get the best seat in that block). But the guy who picked up his lucky dip tickets right after me got front of stage tickets…

It's been a lot more than the last couple of excursions. It began on the 2013 Fifty & Counting North American Tour, as a way of filling unsold OTT priced seats. As it proved to be successful and popular, it's been retained. Logic would suggest that if Lucky Dipping a slow selling show, you stand a better chance of scoring a good spot. Personally I'm lucky dipping Paris 1 & 2. Hoping to be slotted into Carre Or, priced at 331.5€ !!!

As for on the day logistics, in Paris I can collect from 5pm. Pairs of tickets are handed out in sealed envelopes with names on them, so what you get is predetermined.

Shure that there are name on the envelopes? In Zurich it was random. They took a sealed envelope in the order you came.
