opinion on front row-how far back is too far?

I know opinions vary but if you had a chance for tickets up front, how far back is too far? 8 rows?, 10 rows?, etc. I thought no farther back than 20 rows would be optimal. Any opinions?

In my opinion as long as I'm in the first 40 rows on the floor no more then 2 sections from the walkway, I am fine with those seats. Of course I would like to be closer but so far I haven't been able to pull up anything in the first 20 rows in any city other then the VIP seats. The stage hopefully will be high enough that I'll get to see most of the action even that far back.

That is exactly my typical limit for seats (20th row) , although I'd consider a few more rows back (say 25) if the stage was big, high and/or wide. If those aren't available about the only other thing I'll sometimes accept is right in front of the FOH mixer because the sound is bound to be optimal. Unless of course it is a show which allows tapers because that is their domain and I hate being asked to shut up if I want to make some appropriate noise. smoking smiley

lol. But if the front row was occupied by all beautiful ladies, I've got a feeling that would change to 3rd row for you Rockeee. I mean there's the show and there's the showing...

I didn't think Rockman needed no rows or sections, he gets on the stage.!!!!

I'm going to assume that picture was photo-shop'ed until we get the friggin story. Or maybe just start a rumor of him gettin' whacked by a Telecaster right after the shot was taken. grinning smiley

I prefer first 20 rows but would go as far as 25-30 rows if near the center. But, if you are short, you'll have a hard time seeing the main stage from anywhere beyond that, in my experience. I've often thought of buying 70's platform shoes (like the ones they wear on Soul Train reruns) so I can see.

I was front row in Adelaide stadium show.
Kinda wished I was 10-15 back.
Front row you have security guys looking at you, kinda muting the buzz, and the band almost play over your head.

If I'm not right at the front, I'm not interested! Front five rows or nothing.....
