Ok, this is completely OT, but I need help on how I can create a safari browser history that is post dated from today.

I had deleted my browser history and need to show I visited certain sites to be paid.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have a Google-account? Then log in, it's there somewhere.

Or ask the NSA;-)

Do you get paid for surfing? Sounds interesting...

Hey whitem8,your probably in luck since I believe Safari retains caches of your history even after it's cleared. Look in /Users/>your user</Library/Safari, there are a couple files called History.plist and HistoryIndex.sk. Basically with Safari closed, use Time Machine to go back to a History.plist file dated sometime before the history you want to include, highlight it, and select Restore at the bottom of the Time Machine page.

I'd check with the Apple support folks to be sure, you're certainly not the first person to have this issue and it's probably discussed on there somewhere. [www.apple.com]

Good luck bro.

Hey Naturalist. Yeah that won't work. I had my time machine off. And I was using the Private Safari page that doesn't keep a record of history. I got hacked once on a public network. And I regularly clear my history and the safari history folder. So I am looking for a way to recreate a browser history for last history showing the sites I was on for an hour with a time and date stamp. Thanks all!

OK, not sure if this will work but how about turning off your network time server setting the time and date manually to the dates you need and , then re-browsing the sites you want and printing out the history.

peace

In /Users/>your user</Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Webpage Previews/ there're Thumbnails as jpeg/png file from the visited websites with - as any file - time & date.

Maybe it's also still in the Safari Cache:

/Users/>your user</Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

In a Mac forum someone mentioned that he used 'FileJuicer' to explore the cache.
It seems that a new folder 'fsCachedData' will be generated then in /Users/>your user</Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ which contains parts of the database.
There he has found what he was looking for.

You could also try to restore previous instances of the 'Cache.db' or the 'Webpage Previews' folder with a file recovery tool - dunno, if the Cache files are really overwritten when emptied or simply marked as unused.

Naturalist that is an interesting idea. How do I turn off my network time and date?

Thanks everyone your being very kind.
Irix. I am not sure what you mean when you list /Users/>your user</Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Webpage Previews/

I am a bit of computer novice so how to I get to that? What are the steps?

Thanks So much!

I don't think there is a cache as I was using the safari private page which says it doesn't keep history or cache.

And no I don't use the time machine back up, it is off.

Well I think I stumbled on a solution. I just changed my computer's date, and then did the searches, then changed the computer back and pulled up the history and it shows the searches and websites for the changed dates. Do you think that will withhold scrutiny?
