When I listen to Elvis Presley and Clapton's soulful voices I can't help but think that Lennon and Jagger are both wimps.

I don't think you need a great voice to be good rock singer. Look at Mark Knopfler. Terrible voice but great to listen to.

Also, I never thought Elvis had a particularly great voice. He made the most of what he had but he's no Frank Sinatra (or Paul Rodgers if you want to stick to Rock).

If a rock voice is not melancholic or not sensual at all then it's not a great voice IMO.
And when it comes to this criteria, WHO is better than Elvis Presley? smoking smiley

If according to you a statement "I don't like Beatles" is equal to "Lennon is crap," then you are right. I personally think those two sentences mean two different things.

What I was trying to say (I think quite clearly) with the sentence you quoted was, that a personal opinion is one thing, but to present it as a given fact is not right. It is all right not to like something and it is all right to say it. What is not right is to force to others that if I don't like something, it means it is bad and anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid. Which is exactly what a lot of people do here. To put it even more simply - I humbly think that "I don't like this" doesn't mean "This is bad." But I am probably wrong, those two things mean probably the same thing. To a lot of people anyway. Just like "not to like" doesn't mean "hate" to me. But why do I even try?

I don't want to comment on how I feel about the arraignment of your list, I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it and I commend you.

I just wanted to say I love your nod to Jerry at number thirteen.

If I composed a top 30 I would add; Frank Ocean, Randy California, Taylor Goldsmith and a few others in there. Cheers on your list though!

Ok thank you. But this list not is in any kind of way my top 30 rock n roll singers, and the singers are not in order of greatness either. This is just the first 30 singers I could think of which I like better than John Lennon. 15 names on my list could probably been replaced with better singers.

I could with ease think of 30 better rock 'n roll singers than John Lennon, but I could think of none better than Jagger.

Well all right, that makes perfect sense. After all this is a web site
where we're supposed to idolize our boys totally out of proportion.
I'll play and let's call Keith the second best voice in the business.

Yes second to John Lennon...I do Agree !!!

My thoughts are I never liked the Beatles.

It looks like you are having a tough time answering the question ?????

Didn't my response answer the question. Obviously if I don't like the Beatles, I would think Jagger is a better singer.

Actually, no the answer is not clear or direct, it is the same as @#$%& someone that you really don't like....Has this ever happened to you ???

Ultimately it doesn't matter.

Mick sells it, better than anyone else, and that's why we buy.

If he'd just stood still on stage like Bill Wyman, expressionless and sang the same songs for the last 50 years, well, I don't think we'd even have IORR.
