I know it's late in the ballgame, but does anyone know of any decent hotels that allows dogs? My dog is a chow chow, so a medium-sized dog.

Thanks in advance!

They are predicting thunderstorms for July 11th. Obviously it doesn't mean there actually will be when it's this early on, but my question is: how bad does the weather have to be for them to cancel?

worse than it's going to be.

HA!

Looking more for a direct charter bus right to stadium from NYC and then immediate return. This exact thing must exist I just have to keep looking. Maybe Ronnie can take me in his limo!!!

that sounds 'bout right

i've started looking for airfares for Saturday
(there are greyhound and trailway buses that leave Buffalo for NYC at 12:30 or thereabouts....but from where in Buffalo?)

I figure there must be some charters going directly to Rich Stadium then returning afterwards. That would be easier than a plane and getting back and forth to the site. Plus there's time to sleep on the bus overnight. Imagine it and it will come, tickets included!

This is Buffalo. I have sat in that stadium watching some football games in some horrible weather. Predicting weather here a day in advance is dicey, let alone over a week in advance. It would have to be violent thunderstorms for hours with high winds to postpone the show...and though we get lots of snow in Orchard Park, we rarely get a violent storm in any season.

One of my all time favorite Stones shows happened in the rain in Toronto 1994 when as it started raining, and crew started covering up exposed instruments, Mick walked to the piano and began playing Memory Motel.

In 1981 in Orchard Park, it was so windy that the crew had to slice away the fabric covering the stage and speaker towers to they would not blow over. Thankfully, George Thorogood came out, pointed his guitar at the sky while grinding out a riff and the sun came out (true story) and weather trouble was over for the day.

Hi everyone.
I am arriving on the 10th and leaving on the 12th.
Can someone local please tell me the following:
Is the airport open 24hours? Our flight leaves at 7:20 Sunday morning.
Also, are the rental car returns open 24 hours? or do they have a 24 hour drop off?
Are there any markets near the airport where we can stock up on food and of course alcohol?
Are there specialty stores for alcohol or the same market?
last is there anything within walking distance of the airport?

The airport is not open 24 hours, but opens well in advance of any morning flights (first flights out are around 6 am, it opens before 5). It is a smaller, easier to navigate airport. It isn't JFK or O'Hare.

Car Rental Returns are based on where you rent.

Stores for alcohol? Lots. Take a right turn out of the airport, and proceed to Cayuga St (on the west edge of the airport). If you turn right on Cayuga and go up a couple of blocks you will see Consumers Beverages on your left. This store sells beer..from Bud to microbrews to imports. Great selection. Can even buy growlers (half gallon jugs) of microbrews on draft. If you need groceries (and or liquor) take a left on Cayuga instead and it becomes Dick Road. Follow it straight till you see a plaza on your left that has a Wegman's in it. Wegman's is a great grocery store and has a great beer selection also. There are several liquor stores within a couple of blocks also (in NY beer can be sold in grocery stores but wine and liquor in liquor stores).

And if you decide you want to go out for a drink, bars here can stay open till 4 am.....just drive carefully.

As for things to walk to from the airport? Like most airports, not a lot, other than other hotels.

I'll post more on here in a few days on all that is happening in Buffalo that weekend. Lots going on.

Hotels here are jammed for that weekend. Finding a decent hotel, let alone one that allows dogs, may be a challenge.

If you go on Marriott.com there are still a couple (as of this morning anyway) marriotts available by the airport in Cheekotawga (15 miles or so from the stadium) for $200 or so.
Still PLENTY of tix available. Lots of DEcent ones for $408, and saw some pretty good ones popping up for $158.

I am coming from Long Island for the Buffalo show. Will be leaving the 10th to see family in Saratoga. Then heading up to Buffalo for the night to see the show. Staying at the Travel Lodge in Amhearst on Niagara Falls Blvd. Questions:

- Do I take 90W up to Buffalo?
- anyone familiar with that area? how close to Ralph Wilson.
- what is a great breakfast/brunch place in the area for Sunday?

Is anybody going with Rally Bus from Toronto to Ralph Wilson Stadium and back to Toronto after the show !
I made a reservation, now they told me the journey is not yet confirmed, because they need more passengers.
Anybody who booked it also ? How do you go, if that Rallybus will not go ?
Iwant to go back after the show to Toronto !

Thank you !
Anne

I wish this had been an available option when I was booking my accomodation, I would have happily paid one all-inclusive fee for something like this!

90W to 219 into Orchard Park. 20 minutes, no traffic. Plan on an hour of traffic.
The parking lot! The tailgate scene is not to be missed for both solid and liquid nourishment.

Niagara Falls Blvd in Amherst is about 22 miles from the stadium. One a normal Saturday, about 25 minutes tops. The day of the show there will be lots of traffic. I highly advise leaving a few hours early and tailgating at the stadium.

Niagara Falls Blvd was the main road to Niagara Falls back in the 50s before the advent of expressways. It is loaded with small hotels and chain restaurants, generally more of them south of I-290.

We are still trying to find a place to stay Saturday night. Coming from downunder is a long way.
Suggestions please there are no hotels.
Our flight out is at 7:20 in the morning so we have to be at the airport very early to check in.
Anyone have ideas?

I did not check out the airport hours but I am heading out on the first Southwest flight Sunday which leaves just after 7:00. If they want me to check in an hour ahead the airport has to be open at least 5:00. I agree I have never heard of an international airport closing at night.

It's not a big airport, it's one terminal. I think the security lines open around 4:30 as there is a few 6:00 am flights. The last flights at night get in around midnight. The few restaurants and shops close before then.

Just got my ticket - $170 in section 133. Very excited. Haven't seen them since Churchill Downs on the ABB tour - this will be my 12th time!!!!! Can't wait!! I will probably sleep in my car somewhere on the way toward home. It's a 6 hour ride from there without traffic, and there will definitely be a LOT of that!!
