Buffalo's Waterfront will not disappoint in July.

Canalside, The Cobblestone District, Allentown, Larkinville, Albright Knox Art Gallery, Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and HH Richardson.

We are a city experiencing a wonderful rebirth. Yes, we have great Wings and Beer and we get lots of snow in the Winter. But we are so much more and you'll just have to see for yourselves.

I suggest you visit this site for more info:

Is this the former Rich Stadium or did they tear that one down? I was there on August 8, 1975 when the Stones added that one last show...and WHAT A SHOW IT WAS!

Hello Everybody in Stones land! I just booked mywhole tour seeing 12 show's yes so excited to get back on tour! That said i just checked out all my hotel's and milage to the stadium's which i did good through the Hilton Hotel's and there affiliates. Most of my hotels are under a mile to 5 miles to stadium's but Buffalo from what my hotel told me is 30 to 40 minutes to the stadium from the Double Tree and he told me all hotels are about that distance so that means it's pretty far. So does anybody want to share a cab or does anybody know if there is closer hotel's to the stadium any info would be greatly appreciated! Hope to see all the cool iorrian's on tour! Cheers to all on tour be safe!!!

There are hotels in the suburbs like East Aurora, West Seneca, Hamburg all in the southtowns. You will have zero problems with traffic there as well

I will be in Buffalo. What is the greatest thing in Buffalo during July 9-12, except the Stones concert? Any great mountains nearby?

Hey BV:

Thanks for all your have done with the site and information provided, It is a great forum!

Lots of hills near Buffalo, some of which host skiing in Winter but definitely hills, not mountains. If outdoors activities are high on your list:

1. Niagara Falls - natural beauty, but sadly plenty of tacky development around it. It was developed and used for tourism and industry at a time before Americans thought of conserving the environment, but still quite awe inspiring. You can take paid trips to its base on foot/elevator, or by boat via Maid Of The Mist. Also there are a number of places to hike along and in the gorge that it carves downstream from the Falls with many trails. Further downstream you can grab a jet boat ride into the rapids and whirlpools that fill that stretch of river. A great way to keep cool if it is a hot day. Bring your passport as it would be needed should you venture into Canada. The city of Niagara Falls USA is very blighted. Really a shame (think parts of maybe Newark NJ). Niagara Falls Canada has many glitzy hotels a couple of Casinos, bot also good pathways for walking or biking

2. Letchworth State Park - about 45 minutes from the Orchard Park east on Rt 20A (which Ralph Wilson Stadium also fronts). Known as 'the Grand Canyon of the East' it is much smaller, but lusher. Lots of hiking trails taking you along the rim or down to the bottom, where you will see rapids and a few different waterfalls. For those looking for a cheap and safe place to camp for the weekend, Letchworth is a great spot.

3. Sailing and Water Bike in Buffalo Harbor - right in downtown Buffalo Lake Erie ends and the Niagara River begins. At the foot of Main Street is an area know as Canalside. You can rent water bikes and single-person sail boats cheaply

4. Ellicottville - about 45 minutes south on Rt 219 is the village of Ellicottville. It is a ski village in Winter. In Summer there is mountain biking, golf and hanging around little cafe's a brewpubs

5. Niagara On The Lake - this is a small town, across the border, north of Niagara Falls. Quaint Victorian village. Lots of bike baths, many of which lead you to Canada's finest wineries and fruit orchards. This is the southernmost area of Canada with fairly moderate temperatures as it is located between two huge lakes and the mist of Niagara Falls. Dozens and dozens of wineries and great restaurants (many at the wineries). In this region, German-style white wine grapes seem to do best...so ride from winery to winery and check out the Rieslings and for something sweeter and unique, the Icewine, which is made from grapes that were left on the vines till they have frozen solid and them picked and crushed in the sub-freezing temperatures of January.

I am happy to answer ANY question anyone on the board has about Buffalo and where to stay/what to do/what to pack/where not to stay, etc. I live 2 miles from the venue, and have lived in Buffalo over 30 years. It is not NYC or Toronto or Boston for excitement and sheer size and volume of things happening, but like most cities I have traveled to in the world, fun can be found, culture can be enjoyed...plenty of great bars (that stay open till 4 am) and restaurants, that generally cost much less than what you would pay in a larger city.

I will post some hotel ideas as well as general cultural things (we do have a world-class modern art museum) and I am sure there will be lots of music happening at that point in Summer.

But if anyone has a question, just email me: therollingeffinstones@gmail.com

It looks like there is a lot of excitement building up for the Buffalo show. That is what we need. Fans that care, fans that make noise, fans that make the best show on the tour happening. May be it will be Buffalo... If we feed the band enough with crowd noise and excitement during the show, they will be able to fly up to Canada without the jet after the show...

From the Buffalo press:

It won’t be cheap to see Mick, Keith & the Rolling Stones
[www.bizjournals.com]

I was puzzled with the headline. I guess some journalists are getting old or simply bored. It took ages for the Stones to return to Buffalo and that is the headline they come up with...

Their used to paying nothing for rock bands there. Many venues there for music. It doesn't help that Jeff M who writes for the news is probably bored with the stones act. No new material that's why I guess

"Jeff M who writes for the news is probably bored with the stones act. No new material that's why I guess"

The same Jeff Miers who RAVED about the 2013 show in Toronto. Please.

And the TV and Radio announcers are starting with the "wrinkly rocker" jokes. Really??

I don't waste my time and energy anymore. The way I look at it some of us "get it" and some of us don't. Those of us that do are lucky. While thousands are enjoying A Taste of Buffalo (a nice event for those staying Sunday, July 12 btw), I'll be partying with a few hundred of my closest friends from all over the globe; rocking out to the Band that has provided the soundtrack of my life.

I have been to every Stones show at this Stadium and 2015 marks 40 years since my first Stones Stadium show in 1975. 40 years. That's impressive. We are the luckiest fans of any band ever.

I don't agree with Jeff who stated in the Buffalo News that Respectable hardly gets played lived. Yes 100+ times and last time played in November 2014.

Their catalog goes where back further than 1968 too. I'd like to, hear some B sides. Just sick of hearing the put downs

Many thanks for the info. and help Buffalo7478. Greatly appreciated. Being in Boston, Buffalo is looking like the road trip for me (one of them anyway). I have a buddy in Albany, and the plan is to pick him up and then make our way. I have a reservation at the Town Place Suites near the Buffalo airport (I'm a 'Marriott guy') and I know it's a bit of a ways away. Anyway - can't wait to see our Boys again!
