Thank goodness is NOT Kidschlock! He is utterly horrible and doesn't deserve to be in the same park as The Stones. Whew!

Unless you know you'll get to the crossing in time, I wouldn't take the tunnel bus. The tunnel is always busy at night and I've had some Canadian friends miss the last shuttle. The bus schedule doesn't run particularly late. Depending on who you get at the tunnel, there are some huge asses working border patrol. I think that's normal everywhere but I've run into a couple of huge douche bags crossing the tunnel.

I thought they ran special service tunnel buses for events at Comerica Park and Folrd Field next door.

The Stones haven't played in Detroit since February of 2006.

I don't think they had the arena Tongue stage in 2006. It would have been the
Bigger Bang stage with the audience seating within the back.

Bigger Bang was 2005.

How can he put on a good show when his music sucks? All hype, cliches and not an ounce of originality.

Hey guys, the show is coming up soon. I live near Detroit. I hear Bookies Bar & Grill is good for a pre party? Its about 2-3 blocks from the stadium and I heard they have Shuttle Service. I will need to call them to verify the shuttle. Some Shidoobee fans are showing up as well. They have booked the rooftop of the bar.

Just an idea.

I'm planning Undercover's glimmer gathering for Detroit, if anyone wants to join us. The pre party will be at the Detroit Beer Company, which is two blocks from Comerica Park with good food (including Shepherds pie) and beer. It's within walking distance of the Greektown hotels, near the People Mover and the Detroit Opera's parking garage is across the street.

I haven't decided about the post gg - either in Greektown or with the Shidoobees at Bookies. Whatever I choose will be within walking distance of Comerica Park.

Most of the hotels in downtown Detroit are new or recently renovated. My favorites are the Inn on Ferry Street, the Crown Plaza and the Hilton Garden Inn. All three are comfortable, clean and have good service.

There is a lot to do in Detroit.

Greektown has restaurants, bars, hotels, fortune tellers and a casino:

[en.m.wikipedia.org]

There are several museums. The Detroit Institute of Arts has both Rembrandt and Diego Rivera exhibitions:

Nearby the DIA are the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Historical Museum with the Kid Rock Music Lab:

[thewright.org]
[detroithistorical.org]

Hitsville USA - the Motown Museum is fun:

In Dearborn there is the Henry Ford Museum which currently has a women in rock exhibit along with the car JFK was riding in when he was assassinated. There is also Greenfield Village and a Ford auto plant tour.

There is historic Fort Wayne:

There is the Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfieldf Hills - 25 miles north of downtown:

Cranbrook has a Frank Lloyd Wright house:

The Lawrence Technological University also has a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Bloomfield Hills:

Campus Martius Park in the middle of Woodward Avenue has gardens, a beach, restaurants, music and board/lawn games:

Belle Isle is an island park in the Detroit River. There is a zoo, aquarium, maritime museum, driving range, etc. It's a great place to take a Detroit skyline photo - especially at sunset:

There is also the Detroit Riverwalk:

The Detroit Zoo:

There is a free Gm Renaissance Center tour:

The best area for Stones sightings is probably downtown Birmingham:

The MGM is probably the best place to mingle with the crew.

There are three casinos in Detroit - Greektown, MGM and Motor City. Across the river in Windsor is Caesars.

There are several blues/jazz clubs:

[detroit.cbslocal.com]

Restaurants I can recommend are Fountain Bistro, Detroit Beer Company, Vicente's Cuban Cuisine, Union Street, Small Plates, the Rattlesnake Club, Jacoby's, Pegasus Taverna, Astoria Bakery and Lafayette Coney Island.

Some of the downtown hotels have free shuttles that will provide transportation to and from within a five mile radius. There is also the People Mover. The website doesn't show which July dates that service will be extended to 2am.

Cabs don't have a habit of roaming the Detroit streets - but you can call for one. There is also Uber.

Downtown Detroit around Greektown, Comerica Park and Woodward Avenue is safe to walk. But like any city after dark, I wouldn't necessarily walk around alone. The downtown has great restaurants and bars, lots of resident Millenials, friendly people, great architecture and lots to do.

only 11 more days. starting to play more stones cd's and getting pumped up. parking could be a pain with all the construction. getting down early is the best bet. never been to the Detroit beer company. might take a stroll and check it out.

Oakland University Chorale group gets the nod here...
Good on them!

Comerica Park Choir from Oakland University

I wonder if the Selected of God choir from the Chrysler commercials was considered?

I know, nothing like waiting till the last minute.

Anyone know of a decent hotel that allows dogs? My dog is a chow chow, so he is medium-sized.

Holiday Inn Express is right next to Comerica and is pet-friendly.
Not inexpensive though...
