A sports stadium that doesnt sell beer? How do they make any money?

I suppose they relied heavily on chicken fingers and pretzels instead of Budweiser....

The stadium doesn't have an ABC license...I think the only college stadium in NC that does might be Wake Forest. The chancellors club in Vaughn towers have alcohol but if you have to ask who gets to go in there...chances are it ain't you!

OK. I've got THE TICKET, hotel room and rental car. Anyone have any suggestions about parking? Can I reserve a spot somewhere convenient to venue in advance? Also, are you telling me I can't buy a glass of wine in venue? Can I bring one in...like those small single serves?

they probably won't LET you bring alcohol in but i guess you could smuggle it in. might try a couple of those small disposable soft flasks hidden in your cloths.

what is the worst that could happen? i assume security would just take the booze if they found it on you.... as far as i know, they wouldn't bar you from entry to the show or anything... right?

BTW, two kind souls shared "something" with me in SD. "Something" is sure different than it was back in the day! Fabulous enhancement to an already heavenly experience.

The arena sells beers for 9 or 12 dollars. Cocktails for 9 dollars (measured pour) ...why would you think that is a bonus? Sure NC has amazing beers but I sure dony need to be bent over for one.

Just enjoy your fave 6 pack/bottle/cocktails in the lot.

Any suggestions about reserving a parking spot in advance? Is it possible and/or necessary? Thanks.

Never heard of that unless you have a season ticket or buy a tailgate package

There MAY be some NC State folks with some sort of prearranged parking, but, if so, I've never noticed. Parking won't be a problem. I wouldn't try to pull up to the lots at 8:00 PM or anything, but you should be fine (there have been warnings about traffic, and there will be some, but just don't assume there will be none and everything should be OK). We parked right by the stadium for U2 a few years ago - no issues.

did anybody get a vip ticket to the raleigh show?
if so do you know what time you are supposed to be at the stadium?
i have one but havent heard any info yet.

I think doors open at 6pm... i haven't heard that vip ticket holders need to be there at a different time for any reason... not sure what that reason would be? shots with keith backstage before the show might be good though not likely???

Still some good rooms/rates close to the stadium.

Carter-Finley released this information today, including confirmation that no alcohol will be sold at the show. I think they don't realize they make things worse drinking wise. I think people will drink more trying to pregame like a boss at the tailgates vs. if they'd let people buy beer inside.

This is a college venue and current state laws prohibit the sale of alcohol. From my understanding, necassary permits to sell alcohol at this event were denied.

Yep. Somehow the Dookies got a permit for a beer garden at Wallace Wade Stadium in 2005. My complements to Dook on that, a rare thing. I wonder how hard NC State Athletics really tried to get the permit? It's clearly possible to get one.

With Duke being a private school, whereas NC State is publicly funded, I think the rules are much tougher for a state owned school. The point you made earlier about people drinking "like a boss" in the parking lot has been proven at other schools across the country who began serving alcohol inside. The amount of binge drinking has declined and alcohol related disturbances decreased because people are drinking in a more controlled environment. With the loss of revenue from the no alcohol policy, and the increased cost of playing in the big business world of NCAA Division 1 athletics, I predict the policy will be overturned someday.

Yep, Blackhawks, I had considered the private school thing. That may well be how Duke was able to swing it.

They should play salt of the earth instead of can't always get what you want and use the choir on that one...just for a change ; ) anyone know if they ever do salt of the earth live?
