Since I'm the "expert" on San Diego shows, and will be at Petco Park once again for the Stones, let me know if you guys have any questions.

Since this is the 1st Stadium show on the tour, it'll be huge and a tough ticket. It's a good stadium for weather, sound and comfort, but the sightlines can be tricky on the sides. Some seats for Paul McCartney show, you couldn't see him because the stage was set back from video screens.

What kind of neighborhood/area is Petco Park in??
Nearby restaurants/bars etc?? Walking distance to same??

In terms of stadiums near restaurants, bars, and hotels, you probably can't find a better place than Petco in the US. I may be a bit biased, but Petco's nightlife scene is amazing.

Hi-Just made my reservation to come in from NYC for show. Soooo excited. Any details or suggestions about where best to sit/stand will be appreciated. Any information re: stage configuration?

It's on AXS, but there's no mention of the price range. [www.axs.com]

Since it is at Petco Park tickets will probably be through Ticketmaster or through the Petco website, it is not an AEG/AXS venue. It is interesting that there is nothing on the Ticketmaster website yet for San Diego, so makes me wonder if Petco might be handling it. There is talk about a stage "thrust" that comes out into audience.

Hotel booked via Priceline Express deal for $124 at 4 star Westgate Hotel - walking distance to stadium, bars, restaurants, etc.

According to the story, tickets will be $69.50 - $395.00 plus service charges. The Padres will be handling the ticketing for the San Diego show.

Hotel booked within walking distance -- now to score the tickets!

I live in San Diego too. It will be nice not to drive to L.A. for a change.
Petco is in a great location and there are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Petco is ideal for a show with regards to hotels, bars & food;
the Gaslamp is one of the best areas in the US for variety and quality of restaurants & bars; this will be a blast.
shame I can't make it out there for this!!

We should consider a meet-up in the Gaslamp district before the show, especially since it looks like there won't be GA, meaning that there shouldn't be a reason to spend all day at the stadium.

There is a wonderful rooftop bar across from the stadium that you can see the stadium from (like, you can watch the baseball games when the season is going).

ALTITUDE San Diego, it is a good mix of age groups as well but I am not sure it is open early? :/ Great after spot though, so nice and beautiful.

Gaslamp is wonderful as well.
I would be interested in a meet up.

Yes, tickets will be on the Padres website, or from a link to that site from AXS.com, which is AEG's ticketing site. Some other shows are on Ticketmaster, but not this one in SD.

It's a great stadium for a concert, but be careful with side-stage seats. Sometimes they screw this up and you cant see the whole band or video screens (Paul McCartney show).

They will have the same mini-stage in the middle of the field they used on last US stadium tour. They walk the catwalk out there and do a few songs mid-concert. It's a nice touch for the field level fans.

Also, parking downtown is tough and expensive. You'll pay. Better to take the trolley or a taxi or just walk. its easy, safe, and great weather.

I still doubt this is the only West Coast show. They will rehearse in LA. The rumor was 18 shows and they only announced 15, so more are in the works.

Also, don't buy your tickets until after I do. I want to go, or all this posting work will have been meaningless. I'm taking my 12 y/o son as it will be his 1st rock concert. (start at the top kid!)

The trolley is a good way to go. Particularly, the Fashion Valley Mall and Qualcomm Stadium stations have a lot of parking. There are a lot of hotels in Fashion Valley too, and probably more budget friendly than downtown. Downtown is cool though, so get a room there if you can.
If you're staying downtown in the Gaslamp area, Petco is a short walk. If you're staying on the waterfront, it's a short cab ride. I've walked from Little Italy to Petco during Comic-Con and it's a long hike but good exercise.

...I would be open for whatever works, but from experience, bars across the street from a concert venue are usually very crowded and loud, but I will yield to the San Diego locals for their suggestions....

...so I'm told .....but I couldn't tell you about the place as I haven't stayed there before, I thank another member of this board for booking the room.

Heard it's clean and adequate...nothing fancy.

I'm making a weekend of it and booked myself a nice room at the Del Coronado.
