All this fuzz about a guy that left the band of his own will for over 45 years ago, it amazes me.

Yes yes we know he left of his own accord but it's tragic. What's all the fuss about you say ??
Have you heard him play with the Stones, Taylor and the Stones is the best combination of Rock music ever heard, period. It's just so sad for all concerned, what should and could have been.

So you know? Good. The fuzz is that it’s the same before every tour, what about Taylor? Bring back Taylor. And yes, I have seen them with Taylor way back then. And they were good. But to me it’s like living in the past or like hunting ghosts. My opinion.

Yet look at some of their recent setlists where a majority of the tunes they play are from before Ronnie even joined the band c. 75- talk about living in the past.
Bringing Mick Taylor back (again) would at least make the songs from his era a more legit journey through the past. Will probably never happen again, but they could and should make it happen.
It would only enhance the shows and take them to a higher level just as they were during the 50 and Counting tour - Keith realized this and wanted to keep Taylor on for future tours.

If anyone needs to be reminded of what Mick Taylor brought and brings to a Stones show listen to this. It's beyond words, the intensity is almost too much, and to think when he toured with them on the 50th Anniversary shows they didn't include him on Gimme Shelter.
You don't even need backing singers, Mick's guitar does it all.

One of the many best ever versions of this song, it's genius, by 73' the Stones were so good with Taylor they were in perfect harmony as musicians, playing in the moment, but nothing lasts at that level for long, like great empires they implode.
I have this theory humans can't handle perfection for long in a cohesive group, ego's start to go out of control, as soon as they think about it too much and where the credit belongs it destroys it. It's not to be understood or grasped.
Certainly Mick left over not being credited for his imput and influence.

Well it seems clear to me that everyone's post on this subject is their opinion - whether they cleary state "my opinion" or not.
That said, not sure what part you don't agree with....do you think he would actually ruin the shows if he were to come back?

From timeisonourside.com, prior to Zip Code Tour in 2015, Keith said- "I wanted to see if it would blossom into something else, like a three-guitar band. I realized that was just a hope, an idea"

Won't ever happen again. He and his manager blew it. I understand he is now retired completely from the music scene, not even playing guitar at home anymore.

Mathijs

I know his manager sent out some emotional outburst after the rather unproffesional invitation to the exibition, but what are you refering to regarding MT?

They both blew it bigtime. Even escorted out of the arena by security, pissed off everybody.

He's now 71 and retired. You'd think he'd have a few years in front of him yet. But there you go, at 71 he's maybe just weary of the travelling life. I'm surprised he's stopped playing though.. what a shame.

By ''he blew it'', you mean he expressed frustration and dissapointment when Jagger invited him to a Stones celebration that logistically Taylor had no chance of attending in time.
Big deal.
Unless you know more.

I think Mathijs is talking about 2012, not Exhibitionism.

No they blew it when on tour. They turned themselves into persona non grata after several actions they took, they wore out their welcome.

Couldn't have been 2012, Taylor toured with the Stones for two years after that.

A shame it never happened and that it couldn't be worked out - Blue and Lonesome could have been ten times better, and they might have even had a new album of originals out by now.
I have a feeling Mick Jagger squashed the idea as Taylor almost completely stole the spotlight during his solos at the 50 and Counting shows - at least that was the case at the six shows I saw.

I hated when MJ tried to rush MT's solo on CYHMK and Sway on those shows. You would think the petty jealous at age 74 would go away and Jagger would be content with the band and let the band just play with MT. The ironic thing is MT on stage in 1972 and 2012 some fans have the same opinion that he was a highlight of those shows. The whole idea of them being the greatest ROCK and Roll band after MT left was all spin IMO.

As much as I hate all the private stuff conserning the Stones I must admit I'm curious too. The story around MT looks like a eternal tragedy sometimes, and it seems like he's always in a way have been living a true blues musician life (if you know what I mean). I'm stil glad though, that I've got so much inspiration from his guitar playing. Not just his own playing, but also the way he pushed, and elevated Keith's playing. He said that the Stones pulled out the best in him as a guitar player, but I think he gave a lot back to them as well thumbs up

I really don't think it was all that complicated. They didn't have to bring him back, and we all just hoped it would blossom into something more. Even though that isn't really the most likely scenario. It totally makes sense they're like "listen, we don't HAVE to bring you back, but you'll enable us to sell some tickets, you'll be the gimmick. We'll throw you some money each night, you'll play 1 or 2 songs, and everyone is happy." To expect anything more was really folly on our fault. It doesn't make sense for them to fully bring him back into the fold this late in the game. I'm happy with the way it happened, even though obviously I wish it was more. I don't need to see it again.

The reality was that Taylor came totally unrehearsed to the shows. He didn't have a clue what to play, and literally was trying to figure it out in front of 20,000 people.

That's why Jagger's rushing Taylor -CYHMK literally was verging to become a 25 minute jam with Taylor trying to figure out a solo in Dminor.
