Haha jiving Sister Fanny is excellent "live"...
Mick Taylor must have been hiding under the stage for that killer solo though because no one can play it like he does (though Ronnie's facial expressions are convincing winking smiley ).

Greatest setlist ever..................thumbs up

These videos are great because you get the idea how how they'd sound in concert.Even a neglected song like Miss Amanda Jones (which I always appreciated, btw) comes to unexpected life.

Maybe, just maybe, if they watch them it could give them the idea of playing two rare songs at each concert, in between the hits & warhorses.

It workd during the last tour of Europe in Hamburg, didn't it?

That was quick!! Thanks! I always thought that Dandelion would make a great live song (with today's technology) but unfortunately they never tried it on stage.

Of course Taylor is good, like Hendrix was or Yngve Lannerbäck (Malmsteen...). But overambitious guitar solos that never ends gets boring after a while. It's not what rock and roll is about.
It's marvelous for a couple of minutes here and there though. These guys can hit twelve notes where Keith hits one and Ronnie none (making facial expressions instead...).

Hendrix or Taylor were not schreder players, they put their feeling and
soul in some great solo,no matter if they are long or not, just few guitarist Can do that.

I love Keith's all around playing on guitar especially on acoustic where he can be just perfect but the whole guitar weaving that was feed to the guitar magazines and interviews was just all mirrors to mask away the individual playing when it got stale and the bum notes played at times made you cringe.

Does Shredding exclude feeling per se? Not always, there are quite some gifted players out there that can combine both.

Been looking around on the net and looks like the Celebration for Jack Bruce on October 25th 2016 was Micks last live gig.
Not great youtube clips but best I could find from that gig and the Ben Waters gig in October 2016.

Please Mick, we know you're 70 now but would be so great if you come out of retirement and give us fans some live gigs that really make the most of your talent. thumbs up

taylor so brilliant. i don/t get the noodle and middieely mieddeely comments too very much; a matter of taste i suppose. i just like taylor's vibe.
for me, it does not seem like aimless wandering; for me it makes 'sense'
(in a personal way, i suppose the way some jazz fans might listen to their
favoite artists?)...
...in that they create their own world with their sound and feel...
and for me, well, they don't seem aimless when he's lol, wanking out...
the lines seem to resolve; the little movements seem to bleed into each other
in a way that makes 'sense' to me...
ok a symphony is not a 'conversation' but i also listen,as most of us have,
to classical music orchestra pieces...
it's hopeless to say that a section of a Mozart or Beethoven piece
has narrative structure per se; i mean we can intellectcually extrapolate
off of the title; whatever reason or celebartion or ritual service that the exec producer or Prince or King or Church people were paying them for...
(the title of the album gets decided by the big money boys)
....
for me it seems that Taylor shines with Ben Waters players.
they are pro's and all that; but there is no reaction or response
or 'playing' with him really; they are pedestrian players giving
a master very solid back up support but are not a huge legendary
gunslinger that can still pick off a fly at thirty yards and
not do a guitar hero pose...
he's super great. he's thinned down; has a great haircut and goodness
knows Mick has schooled us on the importance of that...that close
to a mullet stage has to be forgiven...and mick (the other one),
i'm still working on that...

but baCK to Taylor; he's great., that's what's on my mind.
i'm about to clik every link on this thread.
that's what's on my mind.

he's a Rolling Stone. In history I mean.
And that history chronicles a vitality and absolutely confident spectacle
that is pretty unheard of in popular culture on the industrial and cultural
stage they were Not only working in, but to some extent shaping, as pioneers.
2nd generation rock and roll pioneers. and the early 60's are just as important
to me before the Invasion, and probably to the Invaders themselves, most of them..
...taylor..
he's a God as much as any of 'em.
little virgin teenager pulled into that load of sharks being eaten
by even bigger sharks...whoa. super...no problem...eh....we'll just
go on w 3 of us like Cream plus jags, or like The Who.
charlie farts and bill laughs. keith rolls his eyes. his own keithette in training...
brian isnt there but would join in if he were...
so...
it's really not funny; more tragic; that the older guys didn't take
better care of M.Taylor imo. i think it's a common one.
i'm just a fan who does not rate in the affairs of these giants,
but do also understand that the glimz were under their own great pressures...
bill's natural easiness and self confidence in spite of everything was key...
he was ok with showing up; then leaving if they didnt show.
if keith or taylor played bass he never bitched...
so that was special; and it seems Charlie could also detach..
and tho i adore Bill way past most fans, i never claimed his solo
albums were in my home; well one was but not for long truly...when
released back in the monkey grip days. it wasn't offensive but you know...
it's not like don henley or anybody writing seriously was giving a shit..
...
you can damn bet they all had sticky fingers before they formed.
...
if not banquet and bleed.

...so i'm sorry to go on; i just think that in The Stones he obviously was,
AS a Stone, he brought so much to the table. those deserved brilliant classics
have taylor on the rhythm tracks....he wasn't expected to, or allowed to really, just wank forever....they never presented that in their shows.
i saw two with the golden era crew including nicky and jim price, bobby would prove the lone perennial; nicky and stu are gone...
...those songs had crisp arrangements, and are perfect for that kind of album
presentation; taylor wasn't the genuis songwriter who was able to envision
that miracle mix of Amerrican music stles they had absorbed so very deeply down to the bone...
for me, taylor's every little move; personally and as a performing musician, is always as fascinating to me, even the miniutiae (sp?) ; as much
as whatever 'bad' chord Keith might hit on a song...
sometimes he's just throwing different color shapes to the chords on purpose,
i'm personally convinced of this; just gliding some fancy colors in there
now and again that aren't 'bad'...
but the point is.,. for me, not wanting to change someone else tolerance...
cause i do NOT really listen to everything out there by him and some is probably
tiresome and off; like anyone gliding through five decades of a career; or more...
the teenager newbie thrust into superstardom just as real concert PA's
were aced for stadiums...no other bands were making records so crazy like that...

we don't hear too much; at least i'm uninformed and would appreciate info,
about mick taylor's experiences in France, and with the rhythm tracks
on all of exiles....i know on Bleed debut how that worked up and out...
nut not so much for sf and eoms.
...
for me his playing makes 'sense'...he does have a characterstic kind
of few scales or something he works off of reliably; and i can see how
that would get boring for sophisticated listeners not buying into too much
of his emotional aspect as a player...
...but doesn't carlos santana and most
guitarists we love, however diverse, work around the same basic progressions;
and how their own personal extenstiongs OFF OF that,
help define an individual 'voice' as a guitarist.
they both mess around that major to minor pentatonic thing (I'm not trained or schooled but do play and am learning by practing scales)...
...
Yeh it's crazy to even think it never mind say it;
they are such a different band now;
but how sad in a way that they don't spend a few days with him
in studio at least; i mean it would be awkward i guess;
even the main two can't seem to ace showing up together...
there's that...
...another opionion is all. i'm just a fan...
but he's as reliable as bill and is a Rolling Stone in every important
way to me as far as their catalog as a whole is concerned.
i like the brian stuff just as much frankly...
so it's not like i think taylor is the whole deal;
ron's made some great rolling stones songs shine with a wonderful style
of his own; and has pretty much nailed respectfully any foundational
figures on classics that are inherent from taylor's imagination in the studio...

when he plays, it's more than 'atomospheric' it seems a soulful presence
and an individual voice, however hackneyed these lines and figures might
seem to schooled and capable players who are also Stones fans...
...he's not afraid to hit two strings making one droning note and letting
it hang forever creating it's own howl; until he's ready to shake it down
and ride up and down another trail; he's spectacular; always was and still is.

among their absolute highest APEX of what's been officially filmed
and released in live performance HAS to be some of those Ladies and Gents tunes...
those slow blues numbers when mick gives it away to mick taylor with
total confidence...play the blues boy kinda deal...hot a a pistol.
he's still got every bit of that.
it's a long solo; i saw the movie a BUNCH of times in the premier
theater in NYC. THAT LONGass NEVER ENDING in a movie mind you...
love in vain...that stuff is so deeply classic and brilliant..
it's all the way there. and those l&G shows were not even
the best sereis of gigs on the tour...taylor is spectacular...
i've no reason to believe, like i used to, that he was a writer
worth nuturing; cause he's not or we'd have some favorite mick taylor
solo cuts that he wrote...that's not his bag. bill or charlies either.
or brians. no less The Rolling Stone was and is Mick Taylor. imho.
