Agree with others that the professor is just so boring. And since he can't show any pictures or play any music it just is hard to watch. Don't really get where he is going with this or what he is trying to teach. What was released in each country and at each time? I don't know.

Seems to want to teach a lot of wrong information.

I hope you guys aren't letting him get away with it. peace

He hasn't actually responded to anyone in the discussion forum in a couple of weeks,
so it's hard to let him get away with it or not let him. I have the impression that he only responded in the forum
as long as there was still a chance someone would pay to get a certificate at the end,
but as soon as the sign-up period for that ended it wasn't worth his time to bother with us.
(I'm just speculating about that - I've never taken an on-line course before and I have no idea how they normally work.)

I'm taking it for the fun of it.....I believe you "get what you pay for" & since i'm not paying,i'm not really getting anything, but,I have picked up 1 or 2 tidbits...of course(no pun intended)I've noticed more errors than just 1 or 2....just sayin....

Most likely he will show up at the end with a final offer to pay $$ for that piece of paper. I fell behind and took the 2nd test anyway an got 29/30. Thinking about testing out of this.

Poor guy...I imagine he didn't expect that he would have people sign up who actually knew a lot about the band themselves. It's an interesting concept, these free courses. You have to wonder what the incentive is for the instructors, it can't be the money. I do give him credit for agreeing to do it, as a teacher I know it takes a fair amount of time to do all the planning. Thanks to all of you for letting me know what I haven't missed. grinning smiley

The professor's learning quite a lot I think! :E

Yes, he probably is, withsssoul.
Do you know, is this the first time he's taught this course?
I think he's more secure in his Beatles courses.

I imagine he is paid quite a lot of money to do each course, to develop the
video/lectures and the quizzes.

If you want a certificate for completing the course, you pay something.
There are many thousands signing up for each course, from what I can figure out.

In his defense, he is teaching to a huge range of people, from those with no knowledge of the band,
to those such as people in here, at the other end. That's no small task.

I am learning little bits here and there, but then, I'm not all that knowledgable. I find the discussions
somewhat entertaining at times.

No, it's no small task, but it's also no excuse for getting so many things just plain wrong.
I teach too, so it's not a lack of sympathy for the job - but to teach you gots to know your subject matter.
That's fundamental.

My understanding is that this is the first time he's taught the course, and that he intends to use the corrections
to improve it for future editions. Maybe he can also turn it into a regular university course offering.
So it's too bad he seems to be sulking somewhere instead of interacting with people in the discussion forum.
Some people have asked some good questions that he's ignored. That doesn't make me want to buy any of his books
or sign up for any more of his courses, so ... [unimpressed shrug]

But yeah, there are some threads there with some quite interesting input from the participants.

Has everyone been keeping up? I lapsed for a bit and was late getting the last test in but still scored 30/30 without watching 1 lecture. Closing in on the finish line, I hope you all do well.

I took the final exam without watching the lectures too, and also got 30/30.
I reckon that means neither the facts nor the questions were garbled this time -
good going, teaching staff! :E
