Watched "This is 40" with my wife last weekend and was so thrilled to get a brief glimpse of Mac in the last scene when Ryan Adams was playing live.

Just last night I was watching Let's Spend The Night Together w my 17 year old daughter. At one point during Under My Thumb the camera cuts to Mac and Stu pounding away on the keys and I said to my daughter "Isn't it sad that the guy on the right died a few years after they filmed this?"

Can't believe they are both gone now.

Mac was really cool and the rock and roll world will miss him terribly.

Two New Barbarians gone in two days.

RIP

Good in the Small Faces; brilliant in the Faces; great support to the Stones, Dylan, Ronnie Wood and others - and his own band pretty good

thanks for the memories Mac

Mac was such a lovely man. Had the pleasure of meeting him twice. By studying his playing I learnt how to play keys. Now I make a living playing music. Fortunately I had the chance to pay him back -literally- when I went to see him play in Austin. Whenever I would send him an email he would always take the time to reply to my geeky questions.

Such a sweet guy. When I met him in Amsterdam once I got him so drunk on strong beers he thought my friend was a girl and kissed him on the cheeks when we left. And then left his ass off about his mistake.

This is really terrible news, especially coming right on top of the news about Bobby. Mercifully, he didn't suffer too long. I just loved his keyboard playing almost more than anyone else's and he was really a fantastically lovable guy as well. Can't believe this. All thoughts go out to his loved ones. RIP, Ian.

I opened for him a few times in LA. Saw him play dozens of times, too. Helped him load his gear into his car (no one else was helping him).
Great player but an even nicer guy. Was always friendly.

RIP Mac.

Treacle is right - hug your friends, fmily, loved ones - don't hold grudges - none of us will be
here forever. Life is truly too short.

RIP, good man.

Very well said, treacle and swiss. Like "that other band" once has sung, "life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting, my friend".

RIP, Ian.

Goddamn.

Just did this interview with Mac for Hittin The Note magazine. I waited over 40 years to tell this man "Thank you" for spinning my head around in the best of ways when I was a teenager ... and his last words to me were "You're a lovely man. I appreciate it."

The piece is here.

Give 'em flowers while they can smell 'em.

He was the only one I wanted to be the Stones´ keyboard player.
Still can´t believe that he´s gone. He´s on a third of the music
I listen to regularly.

Glad to have seen him with the Faces in Denmark in 2010:

R.I.P., Mac!

damn, what a tough year for rock and roll.

i never saw mac with the faces and the 78 stones tour was my first time seeing him live.after that with the barbarians 3 times and the last time was on ronnies solo tour with bernard on vocals...man what a player.damn this is a bad day...
