The best gift a stranger can give you is the gift of music. Thanks Bobby for all the great gifts you have given me.

So So Sad to hear this !
I´ve just blasted "Brown Sugar" all over the neighbourhood -
and no police yet ! !
My deepest thoughts to his loved ones ! ! !
BK ! - you will be so missed !
- but at least I feel secure, that they "up there" - will know
which instrument to give you ! - and it won´t be the harp !
Please just Play On - and On ! - and what a legacy !
RIP Bobby ! ! !

RIP Bobby, unfortunately Sam Cutler had warned us recently, Bobby's "looking forward to joining the Stones on the next leg" was a last hurrah of sorts then.

By coincidence I was listening to Godfather's Paris 2014 CDs this morning and remembering the thrill of Bobby's deep tenor honking away on Bitch...think I took that pic right at about that time :

I read his book last earlier this year, a great read, and I got a better appreciation of the man and musician.

I can only echo all the sentiments expressed already on here. His solos were always a highlight of shows and he'll be greatly missed. Am sure kahoosier will be joining me in recalling the entertaining night in Budapest when we somehow ended up with just him and an old pal of his in a bar. RIP, Bobby. Such sad news.

Much respect to Bobby for never dishing out the dirt in his many interviews and book. He obviously had plenty of tawdry and incriminating tales he could have told but he always took the classy high ground and kept his focus on the music. A gentleman to the end.

Excellent photo by Bjornulf on the main page, just beautiful. peace

While promoting his book, Bobby Keys recently related a hilarious anecdote of when John Lennon arranged to have him play on a recording of Yoko's: "her music, yes indee-dee"....

It's wonderful that Brown Sugar has a sax solo instead of a guitar solo. It's just perfect.

I always loved the fact that Bobby Keys "rooted" the Rolling Stones all the way back to the 1950s and Buddy Holly and the Crickets. There was something profound about that to me.

Thanks Bobby for the great life!

Awful, awful news; I'm heartbroken to hear this.

Setting aside his genius on the sax, Bobby was such a wonderful man, full of love and light.

Now God gets to watch him play, I suppose.

RIP Bobby, and thank you so much for all the joy you've given.

Another reason to love Brian Williams: people like Bobby Keys would most likely not get their own segment on the Nightly News. Williams is a lover of rock to make sure he gets some time there.

Wow, this news really knocked the wind out of me. I just assumed he would always be around, like I assume that the Stones would always be around.

Very sad news. My condolences to his family and friends.
