btw- I saw learned of his passing on the National news, which was muted at the moment, but I looked up and umuted it and heard this very very sad new... but it was a nice piece and it was good to see Bobby get the recognition he deserves, while so many great people pass away and there is hardly a word about them.

See ya in rock and roll heaven Bobby...

I haven't paid close attention lately, did he play with the Stones on their last leg of the tour?

I take comfort in remembering Can't You Hear Me Knocking at the second Philadelphia show last year. The three guitars and Keys just playing. Music does not get any better than that.

I was in a store in Chicago Saturday, and Brown Sugar played on the sound system. That sax solo is just so alive and distinctive, it stands out and grabs everyone's attention wherever the song is played. We may have lost Bobby in one form today, but there's the disinct possibility (hell, probability)that sooner than later you will be somewhere and without warning Bobby Keys' sound will grab you. Thank God in that way he will always be with us.

I love all of Bobby's work with the Stones but if you want my favorite moment it's definitely his solo on YCAGWYW from the 1973 tour. It was absolutely transcendent, he just had such a wonderfully unique rock & roll sound. This is terrible news and i'm not going to recover for quite some time.

I was in a great mood when I arrived at work until I saw this. I won't get much work done today as I'll be listening to the Stones all day. God speed, Bobby. I'm sure you'll make the Big Guy upstairs happy with your music. We will never, ever forget you. Keep blowing and we'll see again some day.

Bobby's sound was one of the keys to the Stones' unique sound.

Bobby, thank you for your wonderful playing.
Rest In Peace

So sorry to see you go Bobby. You gave the Stones some American attitude.

The only sax player that could rock properly a Stones song. Always considered him as a true Rolling Stone.

One of my favourite Bobby Keys sax solo is on last year's Hyde Park concert during Miss You :

Another goodbye to another good friend, god bless you Bobby. RIP.

His playing was so distinct, and he's always made such a large contribution to the band. The Stones will never quite be the same.

Keith must be devastated. I hope he's doing alright.

And just when you were beginning to think the Stones would never die...

My wife and I will never forget the intimate club show we saw him do in Detroit a couple of years ago; dancing right in front of the stage to Brown Sugar; standing directly in front of him, the bell of his sax no more than four feet from my face when he played Can't You Hear Me Knocking. Always knew this was something we'd likely never get to experience again, but it's knowing with absolute certainty that we'll never experience it again that's making this hard to take.

Sigh.

Bobby Keys. I can't thank you enough for all the notes you played for us live, and all the sounds you've left us on recordings to listen to. Thank you. Thank you so much.

A fantastic rock n' roller with true heart and spirit. And a kind man! I met him once in the immigration line in Shanghai after the Stones gig there and he was wonderful. Chatted with me, signed my ticket and just seemed so happy. RIP Bobby, your jamming with some of your good buddies now, blow that horn boy!

A true rock and roller. The Stones music wouldn't have been the same without his unique contributions. He will always live on in the music.

It's starting to sink in...can't really think about posting on any other threads.

Not a good year in the personal life of the Stones.

So sad. I'm just grateful that I got to shake Bobby's hand and thank him in Vegas last year.
Godspeed Bobby.
May all if your bathtubs be filled with Dom.
