Hey girl with your nonsense nose
All pointing right down at the floor
Hey girl your suspender shows
And the girl behind you looks a bit unsure

Miss Amanda Jones

What could possibly beat this Bridge?

Feel so hypnotized ~ can't describe the scene
Feel so mesmerized ~ all that inside me [+ countervocal staggering in like an stoned & unkempt angel]

Stand up coming years and escalation fears
Oh yes we will find out
Well like a withered stone, fears will pierce your bones
You'll find out

Love it! thumbs up

Beat me to the punch on this one. Love it. This Rock's Off bridge is also great musically because it give a short, mellow and effective breakdown to an otherwise totally rocking song. peace

An unlikely one maybe, but:

Set us up so they can shoot us down
Put us six feet underground
(That's just too deep for me baby!)

And this one (Mick and Keith duetting! Are there any others like this?)

All I want is ecstasy
But I ain't getting much
Just gettin' off on misery
It seems I lost my touch

Where Mick takes over, and Keith switches to back up vocals, you mean?

Yeah, on Happy.

Would have to go with this one too, it's so "special" ! Now I'm trying to track down the last "great" bridge on a Stones' song...Neither D&G or OMS really have one.

Call me lazy bones
Ain't got no time to waste away
Lazy bones ain't got no time to waste away
Don't you think it's just about time to hide away? Yeah, yeah!

I feel so humble with you tonight,
Just sitting in front of the fire.
See your face dancing in the flame,
Feel your mouth kissing me again,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz.
Oh, what a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz.

Yeah, on Happy.

I think maybe Roll meant "are there other bridges like that"

Another beauty - edit: oops, I was typing while RnT was posting:

The demo version released on the deluxe Exile is one of those moments when the Glimmer Twins sound uncannily like each other

As opposed to verses and choruses, where Mick takes over - like in Happy - yeah, I get it smiling smiley

The closest would be The Worst, where Mick comes in beautifully in the bridges.

Keith's wonderful middle 8 in Memory Motel

She got a mind of her own
And she use it well
Well she's one of a kind
She's got a mind
She got a mind of her own
And she use it mighty fine

That is what I mean't yes - and The Worst is indeed another fine example DP. As is the seldom mentioned New Faces:

Is it already too late
No point shutting the gate...

Yeah, I'm worried
Lord, I'll find out anyway
Sure as Hell burns, I'm going to find that girl someday
Oh I'm worried
Lord, I just can't seem to find my way

Actually my favourite is one with only three words - I'm a monkey.

The bridge in Monkey Man is nothing short of sublime, a sweeping piano-led piece played by Nicky Hopkins that shimmers and soars and ascends all the way to the heavens.

Isn't that the chorus?

I always regarded the beautiful instrumental piece (with the slide) as the instrumental bridge in MM.

It's brilliant anyhow, though, no matter what it is thumbs up

D'you know what Dandy - that song is a strange one. I don't think there is a conventional chorus in it. A chorus is a refrain, right? And there is no refrain in that song. I think it's a song with no chorus and just a bridge leading to the outro. eye popping smiley

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and
Black and white
They don't look real to me
Or don't they look so strange

Have you ever heard those opening lines?
You should leave this small town way behind
I'll be your partner, show you the steps
With me behind, you're tasting of the sweet wine of success

They're ALL sublime.

Rolling Stones = Geniuses of the Masterful Bridge...
Amen!

Btw: lovely thread, indeed.

Yeah! These are some mighty fine bridges indeed. Burned into our souls for eternity.

I thought this one is kind of cute too:

I've got my money, my ticket, all that shit
I even got myself a little shaving kit
What would it take to bury me?
I can't wait, I can't wait to see

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

A beautiful instrumental bridge indeed. Another great one is the instrumental part of Coming Down Again around 3.50 where Bobby Keys and Jim Horn come in, trading licks over Nicky Hopkins beautiful piano.
