Re: Possible 2015 USA Tour

From USA Today this past February: "Kid Rock had such success with his 2013 Best Night Ever Tour, where tickets cost $20 and beers just $4, that he'll be doing it again this summer.

Only this time, he's bringing Foreigner along.

"You get to see Kid Rock and Foreigner for 20 dollars — if you don't like that, go (expletive) yourself," Rock says of the tour, which starts June 24 in Hartford, Conn., and continues through early September. "You can't go to the movies for 20 dollars."

Rock will sell 1,000 tickets from each show via LiveNation.com's Platinum ticketing program, in an effort to cut down the market for scalpers. And nobody will be able to buy a front-row seat. Those, Rock's people will give away at the venue as upgrades. "Maybe we see an old concert T-shirt or a 'Made in Detroit' shirt. Maybe it just looks like they're having a bad day, and we'll be like, 'Hey, sit in the front."

I wouldn't put Kid Rock or Foreigner up there with the Stones, but, man, how many of us wish the Stones, ticket price wise, would do this kind of tour and have some fan recognition in the process? God knows the Stones don't need the money and, if like Neil Young and the Horse, Springsteen and the E Street Band, they keep the stage set up simple, they won't need to pay a gazillion bucks to keep our mind on the spectacle and off of the music.

And, in my fantasy thoughts re a Stones tour here in the U-S-of-A this year, maybe, just maybe, they'll throw away the fluckin' set list they've used since 1833 and be bold in their song selections. Don't get me wrong - would love to hear them do all of Sticky live, among others, but outside of Springsteen, I don't see anyone else who can do one of their albums in total, live, in seqwuence, and carry it off. Neil might've done it at one point, but his thing these days is somewhere over the Pono.

I live a stones throw from the Santa Barbara Bowl (well about 25 miles), and have seen dozens of great concerts there.

As for this latest rumor, I won't believe it until I see it...live in person! thumbs up

I just booked two rooms at the second closest hotel to Rich Stadium. The closest was already booked and had jacked their prices. HMMM.

Yikes. ALL the hotels closest to the stadium are dumpy. REALLY dumpy. Just little motels leftover from maybe the 1950s. Not hotels but motels. 3 within walking distance. This is out in the suburbs, almost rural. Great atmosphere for football games and concerts. Not much access to public transport. Really built around a culture of tailgating - which we love here in Buffalo. Loads of parking around the stadium. Bring a cooler, lots of beer...a grill to cook dinner pre-show and some chairs. Make a day of it. Just don't expect anything resembling a 4 star hotel close to the stadium...more like 1/2 star or less. It will be a place to crash after a (hopefully) long amazing show.

More hotels a 5 to 10 minute drive away. Downtown Buffalo, with many hotels, is 20 to 25 minutes away.

Not a damn thing about Kid Rock that I'd like the band to emulate.
And just watch them "carry off" whatever set-list they choose.

Hopefully an announcement will be coming soon. As in days. To see the Stones in Buffalo in the summer would be priceless.

The last summer show was on July 4th 1978. I was there.

I just hope I can score a ticket to a show in a venue close enough to Santa Barbara that I can afford the travel costs.

As far as unusual amphitheatres go, they are going to play the Sant a Barbara County Bowl at the end of May.

This is great news, if true. I believe I've read all the latest posts in this thread and this is the first mention of Santa Barbara I've seen. Dan, will you please cite the source for this info?

Oops I got them confused with Aerosmith.

They are playing Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield.

So no New York, L.A. or any bigger city in the US? I was hoping to see them in NYC, i find it very strange to play all these smaler towns with a demand for tickets that will be very extreme and huge black market prices

I've been saying it since the 50th anniversary shows in 2012, but I just can't see them NOT playing Madison Square Garden one last time. I know they did technically for the Sandy benefit right before the 2012 Newark shows, but I mean one last blowout at the world's most famous arena. Its the site of Get Yer Ya Yas Out, they've played their countless times throughout their career. I still really think, but I guess its maybe more of a hope, that thats one of the stops on this summer tour. Between those fall 2012 shows and the spring 2013 ones, it almost seems like they were actively avoiding it and I feel they must have been saving it for one of the grand finale shows.

Methinks Dan is just having a good time flinging a bunch of hooey around in this thread. First, he said they'd be playing the Santa Barbara County Bowl. When I asked for a source, he said, "Oops I got them confused with Aerosmith. They are playing Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield."

He's posting on a Stones board and confused them with Aerosmith?? Funny!grinning smiley

Kid Rock is working 6 nights a week, not one or two.

He found a way to stay in large venues, rather than charge $100 to play in casino ballrooms shutting out most of his fans. He can still make money and he doesn't seem to worry about devaluing his product.

He is only playing Live Nation sheds which already have low overhead compared to arenas.

This is good for Live Nation because they are mainly in the business of selling beer and parking spaces. If all acts played for them for this cheap it would be great for business. Part of the reason they ran up the ticket prices is bidding high for acts because they needed the bands to play their venues during the summer months.

Good seats are still in the hundreds... I never had a problem with acts charging thru the nose for good seats, it was only when they ran up the price outside the golden circle...

I'd go to one of his shows just for the hell of it but I don't like these venues.

Rolling Stones 2015 tour to start in San Diego

The fabled English rock band will return to Petco Park, where the group performed in 2005, to open its North American tour

By George Varga March 11, 2015

Sean M. Haffey

The Rolling Stones are set to kick off their 2015 North American tour with a late May concert at San Diego's Petco Park. The likely date is May 24, according to sources. No other cities have been confirmed yet for the tour.

An official announcement is scheduled for next week, but could come sooner. There is no word yet on when tickets will go on sale or how much they will cost. The Petco Park concert is being produced by AEG Live, which owns a controlling interest in Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena).

The late-May concert will mark the legendary English rock band's first San Diego performance since Nov. 11, 2005, when it became the first music act to headline at the then-new downtown baseball stadium. That show, which drew a near-capacity audience of 43,000 to Petco Park, was part of the Stones' "A Bigger Bang" tour. No title has been announced yet for the 53-year-old band's concert trek this year.

A source — who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the deal is not yet closed — said the Rolling Stones are just a signature away from making a deal to play a concert in the Ralph Wilson Stadium.
