I can picture it now.....at the start of the show, there will be a huge zip in front of the stage which will be opened to reveal the Stones as they blast into Brown Sugar.....

Not a good idea. If they bring the zip they'll also have to create a 20x25 meter replica of the Warhol b&w picture. Imagine that on a stage... That would beat the 1975 inflating phallus! Biggest d@ck ever! >grinning smiley<

Just wishful thinking on my part...

for the first time in many years concerts are coming back to Buffalo Bills/Ralph Wilson stadium this Summer...a boy band...not the Stones. The Bills have a new owner, who has a music business, and controls an 75,000 capacity stadium that is free for all but 11 days this year.

Stones played Buffalo twice in 1975...first in June indoors, then the tour closing party (after South American tour was cancelled) at the stadium. Plus massive shows in 1978 and 81. The 1997 show there was not close to a sellout...more the type of crowd they draw now. The band is now right-sized for the market.

Probably won't happen, but I can dream.

From the Bigger Bang tour. The only show Pearl Jam opened in Pittsburgh. Was thankful to be there. I went nuts when Eddie walked out for Wild Horses.

No!

1. ROUGH JUSTICE

Note:
Great lyrics!!! Mick sings:
"Once upon a time I WORKED your little rooster, but now I'm just one of your cocks"

Instead of the printed lyrics in the ABB booklet:
"Once upon a time I WAS your little rooster..."

Details everybody! Wooow! What a great Opener!!!

I agree with Nate. I love the "carnival" atmosphere of the stadium shows and provided the weather is good they can actually be my favourite way to see the Stones. Except in a small club of course!! Speaking of small clubs, it is 12 years ago today that I saw them at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. With Midnight Rambler as the opening song - wow, what an experience!!

I was there too!

Well I wouldn't start lamenting quite yet...no one knows that, or at least no one that has reported it knows it.

Stadium shows are fine with me. I'm still there to listen first and laugh a bit at the spectacle of it all.

If Mark Fisher was still alive we could hope for a in-the-round stadium stage like U2. I would love to see a big b-stage with giant screens and PA above, visible with great sound 360°.

I just hope they play a cover or two that they remember and enjoy.

I can't see Sticky Fingers orientated sets happening in stadiums which always tend to be more greatest hits events. So my feeling is that there may be a mix of arena shows with a Sticky Fingers set and stadium shows with the usual format. But of course it's all speculation at this point.

Brown Sugar
Bitch
Wild Horses
Can't Your Hear Me Knocking
Sway
Dead Flowers

6 SF songs, 18 songs in total per concert. You could call that a SF-show.

Moonlight Mile would absolutely positively have to be in there too...saying that, Sister Morphine would be strangely absent.

You Gotta Move is a bit of a no-brainer as well, and Let it Rock fulfills the CB requirement.

Which leaves us with I Got The Blues...I could see that one as 'vocally challenging' so I wonder whether that one would get nixed?

Play the whole thing! If Mick (all of a sudden) can hit the high notes on Angie, he can sing I Got The Blues.

OK then, it's settled. Someone please send Mick a telegram indicating we've come to some decisions on the new setlist.

All that talk about the Enmore reminds me what a strange world we live in. I was at the Enmore, a few meters away was a total stranger I remet a decade later. That total stranger and I are now freinds that just finished the down under tour sharing rooms, bars, and time at the rail! This is part of what makes life as a Stones fan so great!

thumbs up Totally agree. Concentrating on the music and leaving the spectacle behind for 3 or 4 songs. Only Keith and Mick singing, not drowned out by the backup vocalists for a change. peace

In my opinion Moonlight Mile might be the most difficult to pull of properly.
I remember being slightly disappointed in the version they played on the No
security tour. Though I was glad they played it - the version seemed to lack
the "texture" of the studio version. 1999 was a long time ago so I should dig
up the live version again for a refresh.

Well, regarding that situation, the last couple years have shown that common sense turned upside down is the most likely outcome. So it makes perfect sense for them to do an album featuring his most powerful contributions now. He'll get a call when the Let It Bleed tribute comes around, for Rambler.

It was posted on page 34 in this thread. But you're right about how difficult this one must be to match the magic of the perfect studio recording. Hard to get those sublime guitars to the front of the mix and to match the great harmony vocals, which probably include multiple tracks of Mick. peace
