The hint I got that it would be McCartney was from a radio station that supposedly knew last week said "it's not Taylor Swift or as big as The Beatles"... which I thought was rather telling.

When Rolling Stones representative Mr Keith Richards was quoted in the media last autumn, as saying his solo album would be released "sometime after June 2015", most people assumed it meant the band were engaged in meaningful work in the interim.

Was he mis-quoted....or had he not consulted with the Chairman of the Board (Mr Mick Jagger) ?

Keith's comment, from the September 8, 2014 interview with Mesfin Fekadu of the Associated Press:

AP: Are you working on music?

Richards: I have a solo record finished, but I don't want to put it out while the Stones are working, so I'm thinking next June.

Let's not forget that when Keith said he wasn't going to release a solo album while the Stones were still rolling, it was at a time when a South American tour was still being strongly rumoured to take place this spring. That rumour was suddenly scotched in one fell swoop while they were still down under and has now been replaced by murmurs here and there about possible South American shows in the later part of this year. So if that's the case and Keith was asked the same thing now, he might have a different answer.

Sir Michael is no longer a commoner. He is a Knight Commander of the British Empire and should be addressed as Sir Michael.

Back then their plans for the South America tour were still set for Feb/Mar 2015. Then the SA tour got delayed until late 2015, so I would assume all other plans are shifted accordingly. Basically the Stones will be on tour for most of 2015 as well, not a lot, but both summer US and Oct/Dec South America.

From that same AP interview:

AP: Are you going to tour more dates?

Richards: They've got South America lined up in February, Buenos Aires, Peru. And after that, I know what the Stones tours are like, they tend to get extended.

But, you're right. Things have changed in the six months since that interview was published.

Rumours they might play Johnny Depp's wedding this weekend in the Bahamas. Could that be why Ronnie and Charlie were in NYC?

The Rolling Stones won't play in Cuba, but two related musicians will play there between 22 and 28 February this year:

"The Dead Daisies will become one of the first western acts to perform in Cuba since the Obama administration opened up trade with the country.

The Dead Daisies will be guests of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, Cuban Institute of Music and the Cuban Rock Agency.

The shows will include collaborations with Cuban musicians Yasek Manzano, Carlos Miyares, Michel Herrera, Alejandro Martinez, Harold Lopez and Yaimi Karel.

For the shows the Australian founded, ever-evolving supergroup will welcome back The Rolling Stones bass player Darryl Jones and welcome Stones backing singer Bernard Fowler and introduce former Motley Crue, Ratt member John Corabi with longstanding members Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses, Psychedelic Furs) on lead guitar, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) on bass, Dizzy Reed (Guns N’ Roses, Hookers & Blow) on keyboards, David Lowy (Mink, Red Phoenix) on guitar and Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol) on drums".

I think that they could make a kind of "Never ending Tour" making 30 show in a year (15 for continent with 2 months of stop) for 4-5 years at least, and at the end (Sixty Licks?!?!!)a "Residency Tour" with multiple shows in New York and London!!People needs the Stones and Stones loves people and...Glory!!

Variations of this have been speculated before and I would agree this is possible and perhaps even considered to some degree, if not overtly then in the back of at least Keith's mind.

That said, can you even imagine them touring when they're 80? Anything's possible I guess.
