The rumour is definitely confirmed...

This is from the IORR tour pages, as always:

CONFIRMED means officially confirmed shows. RUMOURED shows may happen, but details are still not confirmed. Also, they may never happen. PROBABLY mean the date is confirmed by insiders, but not officially yet. POSTPONED means the show is delayed, and will be re-scheduled to another date. CANCELLED means the show has been cancelled, and there will NOT be another date at that place. Don't pay for expensive travel until concerts are confirmed, and please note that even confirmed concerts may change. This list is supplied by the IORR fan club to fans, for your convenient planning in Stonesland...

So... would this rumor land solidly in the "Probably" category in your opinion??

I see some things happening that make me think that a USA tour is in the works. My wife is a big fan of Home Shopping Center, and about two weeks ago they had a sale of Stones related products for women, such as shirts and jewelry. Because she bought several products, she was rewarded with two free Stones downloads in iTunes, which she gave to me. Sales were very brisk on HSN, which means that thousands of Stones songs were given away to fans who might then be motivated to buy tickets. They had not had a Stones sale in several years.

Laugh if you want, but it seems more than coincidence that this sale took place about six months before rumored tour dates in the USA.

That Sunday slot at Hyde Park is still open. I already have tickets for Fleetwood Mac at the O2 on Wednesday and The Who on Friday. It would be amazing to top it off with the Stones (or AC/DC would ne OK, I guess)

Any word on other US cities they might hit?

I suppose...

Rock In Rio @ Las Vegas, NV
Bonnaroo Festival @ Manchester, TN

Plus stadium shows in a few major markets... Toronto, NYC, Boston, Chicago, LA, SF?

Any major outdoor festival in the area within the time frame of May or so would be prime target for this small tour. Like Roskilde, Glastonbury, you know the picture. They are finishing off the schedule now as we speak.

thats rather a good hint - less about the venue than the probability of a tour!!

Thanks for the info BV. Beyond any festivals, will they be playing stadiums or arenas? Or some of both?

Las Vegas makes sense because promoters would clamor over The Stones in the right setting. The right casino owner who has a concert venue would self insure or take care of any insurance problem the Stones might have in the future.

Promoted properly The Stones could have a three performance residency there. The casino tie-ins have limitless possibilities.

Tumbling Dice being first among them...

Well you can rule Glastonbury out, cause that's not how they do things.

I think he means something like Glasto, but in the US.

Is it probably that they could make only Festival appearances in Usa and Europe in summer (Roskylde, Glasto, Hyde Park, Pinkpop, Rock in Rome, Werchter and so on...)?!This could be a good choice to pay off stage, personnel, lights, organization and so on...

Yeah fair enough, I just don't want people getting their hopes up (like mailexile67 above me) because I guarantee 2013 will have been the Stones only appearance at Glastonbury. Michael Eavis is all about getting brand new headliners each year.

I can't see them doing Glastonbury again.

For me, that was one of their best shows in recent years.

They would have too much to live up to ,and they don't need that extra pressure.

I would obviously like Hyde Park ,two days after The Who gig in June.

Something will happen in London next summer. winking smiley

Actually, please, no more tours.

An odd club show, maybe, with MT, but no more warhorses tours again.

Please, don´t grow up gracefully, said Pete Townsend when our lads were inducted into the hall of fame, 25 years ago.

Please, call it a day gracefully, don´t embarras yourselves and your fans like - I don´t want to point out anybody, but there´s no lack of examples.

Seriously...why would you bother coming to a fan site and posting stupid crap like this...obviously lots of folks want to continue to see the greatest rock n roll band in the world....if you dont want to go dont but no need to rain on everyone elses parade who still enjoy the shows. There are plenty of places where its quite welcome to post negative crap

It's not 'negative crap' - it's a valid point of view, and one I've seen expressed many times on this board by some usually well-respected voices: that 'now' is the time to quit while they're ahead, before their live performances became bad enough to 'tarnish the legacy' or some such phrase. In the long hiatus after 2007, quite a lot of people said it: possibly there aren't so many now that the band have two years of well-received shows under their belt - though the idea that the shows are popular because they are attended by tourists who don't know any better still gets aired pretty often.

Obviously there will come a time when it shouldn't go on any longer - some people think that time already came in (insert year of your choice - some of them surprisingly long ago). I think quite a few were worried in 2012 that the new shows might be embarrassingly poor - but as far as I and a lot of others are concerned, the Stones proved us gloriously wrong.

(edit: hit Post button too soon)

At the moment I don't agree with kristian that now is the time for the band to become safely dead and preserved in aspic - but he's far from the first to say so and doesn't need to be howled down.

I agree!!! I think profanity should be avoided or not used in this forum. I recently had the same vulgar language used against me by someone else on another topic- "US Immigration Policies" Although "Crap" may not be a word in the official dictionary of Profanity, it is still a motive by others to dehumanize or reduce any opinion or viewpoint by others.

It seems difficult for many rabid IORRers to deal with the fact that they are in the minority of people of all ages who really enjoy the band but don't want the Stones to ever embarrass themselves. And from time to time they HAVE.

I went through some of Kristian's recent posts and agreed with many of them.

It would be great if the band would do the occasional run of club dates playing songs they truly enjoy playing...I am not a fan of stadiums or too many "Warhorses." Also, it would be lovely to hear a real piano from
time to time.

However, it is THEIR band and THEIR decision to make about what next.

I presume those that say the Stones should call it a day have been to see them on the 14 on Fire tour? The show/s they saw were bad in some way? Musicians don't retire. They don't have a sell by date. If you don't want to pay the price stay at home. Simple as. But all those folks that have been to see them this year were not forced to

They "embarrassed" themselves more in their youth.

Good lawd.
