Well I for one am very excited about the likely 4th consecutive year of touring. They haven't done that since the 60s.

I hope that the format works for their health, personal lives and the music.

BV's point about going rusty is well made - a very English phrase that I suspect (maybe I'm being rude) comes from insiders.

It means the band themselves know that another long break means the end of touring as age catches-up. I suspect the ABCD of Boogie-Woogie was Charlie's way of keeping fit and well oiled (ie not rusty..).

Apart from throat problems the 2 shows a week format for 10-20 shows, twice a year, seems to balance health and fitness - and work/life balance.

Sorry if people here, probably way younger, don't like it. Did they prefer the 4.5 years off before Nov 2012 or the 6 years off in the 80s?

I hope they will do London in Summer. What a great day it was in 2013 at Hyde Park..

I think they do North America to "keep warm". As we know they tend to "go rusty" if they rest too long. Better to get paid for a handful or two real gigs with a paying and excited crowd than three weeks of rehearsals in South America. Then they go south pretty fresh a few months later, and like in Adelaide, they do only need one week of rehearsals locally.

Why couldn't they rehearse for a week and then play shows in South America?

Because they're used to rehearse in front of a paying crowd in North America? winking smiley

The question is...
Will MICK TAYLOR be joining the Rolling Stones on this tour? Will his role be the same as the last tour?

What are the band going to do in the next six months before the U.S leg? Will they take a break, record a new album, re-issue Sticky Fingers and is this a long enough break for Keith the release his solo album?

Well they could be trawling through old tapes and prepare for more reissues. Didnt Mick once say he hated looking back at old stuff. He was pretty negative about the Beatles Anthology sets when they came out.

Of course Keith will soon have to learn his lines for the next Pirates saga.

Wasn't that attitude thrown out the window with the Exile and Some Girls deluxe sets?

They most likely wont play London because of the South American tour being moved to the autumn.

This is great news if it works out!

I am up for NA and SA shows next year.

Plenty of cities they could hit to cover some of the areas that were missed last year:

Phoenix
Houston
Dallas
Miami
Atlanta
Nashville / Memphis
Vancouver / Seattle

Plus Vegas, LA, SF, NYC etc... Perhaps one in each, two in NYC?

I live in Syracuse, NY. There is going to be a major concert announcement here Monday at 10 am. Conventional wisdom says McCarteny, which would be great. But, you never know.

<<What are the band going to do in the next six months before the U.S leg?>>

Very likely nothing--at least as a band.

This is the trade-off regarding the modifying of their performing habits as a concession to age. For decades there would be an album, a few months to a year of touring, and then two or three years off. Now, they take a few months off at a time rather than a few years at a time in between a handful of shows.

With the frequent and regular mini-tours, it's like the sixties again--only without all the new albums recorded in between.
