Nah that's Chuck meowing with pleasure upon learning that Jagger allowed him to use the "musical director" moniker in interviews. smoking smiley

London Roundhouse 1971 is IMO the best

Re: Track Talk: Stray Cat Blues

Roundhouse is great but the horns kinda take away the dirty, raw, darkness of the song for me.

"the dirty, raw, darkness " is the most important ingredient of the song, if that's missing it's no good

Agree! Nothing beats the studio one in terms of atmosphere.

It doesn't get better than this.
This is what The Rolling Stones is all about.
Thanks for posting the link.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

No, but damn great. Easily the best one I have heard from the modern times (especially compated to the weak one on FOUR LICKS).

Thanks for the link!

It says 2002 but I think that’s the 90s but still, it’s mind blowing they were this good that late in their career.
I sometimes forget Mick sold his soul to the devil then I remember and it explains everything.

the best I’ve ever been able to narrow things down when it comes to the Stones library is a Top Ten list - Stray Cat Blues is definitely one of the ten!!

Narrowing down the Stones catalogue to a Top Ten is almost an impossible feat. But if forced at gunpoint, I would certainly include SCB in it.
A masterpiece in the same level of Rocks Off. Both comparable to any of the warhorses.
