Re: Sharing the mic - Mick and Keith

But but... I might be totally wrong about the birth of 'sharing a mic routine' in early 70's. It simply could have been, like Naturalust hinted, that it was just easier for them, and probably especially for Keith, to do it 'together', like they had done so many times in studio. Keith seemed to struggle with his "Honky Tonk Women" back vox during 1969, when he did his bit to a seperated mic. Maybe they realized that it was more comfortable to do the whole thing in a closer interaction, when they could if not quite hear but at least see each other better... Probably that helped in certain kind of choruses to find the 'right' vocal connection.

and, and... who knows what Mick and Keith have in their respective monitor mixes when performing a show. I have a feeling Mick doesn't have Keith's vocal in his mix at all, although I'd bet Keith has at least a bit Mick in his.

I'd love to know what the monitor mixes each member has.

There is some synergy and magic that happens when two vocalists are singing close to each others ears, something difficult to replicate.

peace
