All in one day:
Vervet Revolver
Motorhead
Audioslave

Good, raw, lots of guitars, no 'Chuck' and back ground vocals.

MOTORHEAD!! I saw them in Vancouver in 1982. It was just a couple days after Fast Eddie left the band in Toronto. They were doing an autograph session at a local record store and in walks the band with this red headed guy who no one knew (Brian Robertson, ex Thin Lizzy). Oh well, got their autographs.
I remember they played Muddy Water's Hoochie Koochie Man.
Who's in the band now besides Lemmie? What's Fast Eddie Clarke doing now a days?

Cornell is terrible...maybe not QUITE as bad as anything Foo Fighter related (nirvana was ok...their 2nd & outtakes albums).

CREAM in RAH: Just Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton. It was a real surprise as everybody might have thought wich side musicians will accompany them. NONE, just bass, drum and guitar!

Sabbath in a club would be fun...that's pretty cool.

This will be a good week for me starting Wednesday. Merle Haggard, Bo Diddley, Neville Bros w/Shamekia Copeland, David Byrne, Buddy Guy...all different gigs.

Saw Toots and The Maytalls and Steel Pulse friday night.
Hard to believe, but Toots was the opener - WAY better than Steel Pulse. Toots is the Grand-daddy of reggae...the James Brown of reggae...the hardest working man in reggae...he even is credited with coing the phrase "Reggae".
It should have been the other way around (Steel Pulse opening), but perhaps in years past it might have been different

Coming soon...Buddy Guy, George Clinton w/ Parliament (in Amsterdam), Oasis, and Stones, Stones...and more Stones!
And my girlfriend bought us tickets to see the Eagles as well...mellow, but I was raised on that stuff, they were always on the radio with huge hits...you have to love 'em!

Saw U2 at Twickenham Stadium, last night (sunday 19th)
good show...not great.
Got a pitch stanbding ticket, cheap outside ground..so i thought why not??
Sound quality was poor and the crowd were not a typical rock and roll gig crowd.
All middle class professionals in their cream chinos and polo shirts.
...people were sitting in their seats, drinking
pitchers of Pimms!!
I guess the type of crowd was a reflection of the ridiculuous ticket prices.
....The Stones should not make the same mistake!!

Was at the 10th Annual Russian River Blues Festival in Norcal yesterday. Picture perfect day. Among the acts - 74-year-young Ike Turner tearing it up (keyboard and guitar) as well as the always great Los Lobos doing their variation on the blooze. A wonderful 7 hours of music.....

Ike Turner is one of the most underestimated
artists in rock culture; at emusic there are many good downloads
with him alone & with Tina. According to Tina -
and surely in a strictly objective sense too -
he was an arsehole as a husband; but he is a God-gifted musuician,
composer, arrangeer, soul, rock, blues, r&b- and gospel man
(listen to: Jeus, Jesus)... And he was in the midst of the frying pan where
God & Sun Records created Rock 'n' Roll...

sdstonesguy,

The show was Friday in Ventura at the Ventura theater, just a stones throw down from Santa Barbara.

Also, I failed to mention an upcoming show in the near distant future...Paul McCartney in November in Las Vegas.

I've heard mixed reviews about Macca shows, but once again my girlfriend is dragging me along...she's a huge Beatles fan - as am I - but solo McCartney is something I never would have pursued on my own. Should be a good show, but it's hard to get excited about this show when I will be in the thick of seeing the Stones all across the California during November.
