Altamont was really in the middle of nowhere, but drew crowds from San Francisco and Los Angeles and everywhere in between. I lived in LA at the time and my friends an I had airplane reservations to fly up to SF for the concert. It was the talk of all the "underground" FM radio stations in LA. But, I couldn't get off from work and knew if I called in sick, I'd get fired. I had already taken off a day when I waited in line all night at the Forum to buy tickets for the Stones show. On one hand, I'm glad I didn't make the Altamont show because of the ugly violence. But, I'm also disappointed due to its historic significance.

Just kidding, Spadeygrove! Turns out my grandparents were from WV. I'd like to visit sometime. Never been there before.

Yeah thats my point....No offense to california or texas or NY but the are considered "Stones" states because they play there. Georgia has several venues that are large the dome...75000, turner field, philips, the gwinnett arena, fox, the roxy and we still get shafted on most tours. No club shows on licks for us...ugghhh. Georgia loves the stones and atlanta has everything they need to sell shows. A devoted fan base that is just as devoted as New York or LA. Atlanta metro is fairly affluent with a healthy mix of ages. All the groups they want (all though shrinking in numbers) the devoted rednect, burnedout hippie, soccer mom, twenty something and so on. They sell every show out in minutes. Not just in the nineties but throughout the stones career. All I have to say is that Northern Georgia gets screwed when Keith and the boys come to town. If it's because Atlanta or the area Governmnet sucks, just say so and then I can relax.

i think North Carolina is a big Stones state
I saw them in Raleigh and Charoltte twice
Charoltte was an awsome time. REAL nice and fun to party with!
I go to Washington DC to see them too, not as fun as NC.
I think the Virginia crowd this year is going to be just as fun!
They always played Virginia during the 70's
Norfolk, Williamsburg, Va Beach and of course Hampton!!

The States visited which would make 80 % of the expected audiences are : NY, Ca,Ma and Illinois. I of course do not include Canada. 4 States !!!! I hope we will be more lucky in Europe.
