I really like this photo. In fact, I want to get this photo blown up to something like a 18" by 24" size and then have it framed.

The missus, however, states that it isn't very good. Kinda blurry and unfocused. And you can't see Keith or Bill.

What do you think about the photo?

London Roundhouse, 1971. The artist's identity is unknown.

I like the photo, it nicely captures "feel" of the band in live performance during that era. However, IMO, unless you have a version of this in much higher resolution, I don’t believe it will enlarge to 18x24 with any success. As your wife pointed out, it's already blurry, and enlarging it greatly will only make it look much blurrier.

You sure they didn't just Photoshop Bill out?

photography is art. there is no "right" or "wrong" answer about whether it is good or not. if you like it, blow it up and have it framed.

the appeal of the photo seems to be that it makes you feel as though you are in the crowd, experiencing a genuine moment.

go for it!

I think the photo is freaking great.
Love grainy B/W, but you know me...
So blowing this up isnt that much of a big deal quality wise I think. Why don´t you run a test at home if you have semi-glossy paper and a ok printer?

Over at Getty Images you can buy a digital file that can be blown up considerably more than a small internet file, but that will cost you $260 for a 16 ´´x 20 ´´ (Internal + Non profit & Museum use )

Regarding not seeing Bill...you could tell her he´s just out on one of his famous walks and see if that sticks winking smiley

You cannot do it from a jpeg of this resolution (845K).

If you blow up this jpeg up to 24x18"and print it at 600 dpi (for a decent print), then it will look like this:

You would need a larger print like a poster or magazine.
