The grizzled man at the piano in a wide-brimmed hat looks like Dylan, but when he plays, he’s almost unrecognisable from the artist who created so many songs of such majesty and wit.

Dylan would take it as a majestic compliment since he's a man who's constantly reinvented himself and has constantly tried to escape from the self he had just created...

thumbs up

In the last graph they guy also says ...

"Dylan isn’t so much a disappointment as a distant memory..."

before he's calling on Dylan to stop. lol, I doubt Bob reads all this stuff...
....then this guy would write about his shoes
if Dylan hadn't come through with his band for a show.
This journalist will not be remembered as even a "distant memory,"
and not significant enough, based on his suggestions that Dylan stop working.

people who want to see an oldies/greatest hits show where artists are trying to play their songs just like they sounded 40 or 50 years ago they should go to see ZZ Top, Paul McCartney or the Rolling Stones…

Any thoughts why he isn´t releasing a live album, he´s on a never-ending-tour for decades now and he never has released one, very strange, isn´t it.

Yes...and now hes just put out live recordings which are over 40 years old.
'Dont Look Back' I dont think so!

There used to be some live tracks on bobdylan.com in the last 90s/early 2000s.
A few live tracks were released on the Love Sick singles in 1999. And there are some live tracks on Bootleg Series 8.
Beside that – a proper NET release would need at least 40+ CDs…

IF, as we are led to believe, all Dylans concerts are recorded, it's quite simple.
Either:
1. Release a concert album when its felt he was on good 'form'.
Or
2. Select enough tracks to make a double album from the NET years.

We all saw he and Neil played together in Ireland? Will The Circle Be Unbroken. First performance of the song in over 40 years. First time Neil and Bob have played together I think in 20. Pretty cool.

you can fill one CD with different versions of Shelter From The Storm, the other one with different versions – what ever…
Many years ago there was a bootleg featuring ALL covers performed on the NET on 9 CDs (and that was before the Sinatra years!)

I honestly don't know why I came upon Dylan relatively late in life. I was just always way more into bands, and good looking rock'n roll. I loved and knew all his songs of course, but somewhere I just put him on that folkie shelf with that harmonica holder thinga-jig. Until I seriously started listening to his albums; one by one. And I was just floored, and still am. What a mind IMO he doesn't get enough credit for his melodies too. He has done some beautiful songs.

I always thought Dylan's two chord melodies at times were brilliant.

If true, HOPE it's a studio album of originals.
Nothing against those recent covers albums, but they're a bit sleep inducing...time to wake up!!!

Yeah, the funny thing is that back in the day, Bob Dylan stood for everything Frank Sinatra didn't stand for ... yet now singing his songs ... seems like things comming full circle ... (can it be unbroken? winking smiley )

I thought Sinatra was life long Democrat.Allthough I believe he may have had a tiff with the Kennedys...not sure.

What Dylan is politically? Pure guesswork.....he has certainly amassed a huge property portfolio! Not sure he has made any comments about the current tenant at The White House. A far removed comparison to his other contemporaries eg Joan Baez.

A good friend of Bob is Jimmy Carter...Dylan never commented on Richard Nixon either...

well, I guess his last comment on the White House was his performance of "The Times They Are A-Changin'" in 2012 in the White House. The way he performed it is very telling, i.e. not voicing a triumph or as a victory hymn

A few Dylan titles are being reissued on vinyl next month, including REAL LIVE and INFIDELS w/ Taylor.

Great! Real Live is not the worst live album. Saw him in concert with Taylor back in 1984 I think it was, kind of OK concert (though not great, a bit mechanical). It was a twofer tour: first show Santana, second show Dylan, and in the end a jam with Santana, who snatched all the solos away from Taylor ...
