Saw him last night in hannover, it was really fantastic. If you have the chance to see him near your hometown, do it!!
The band is outstanding,

I went to see Bob at the London Palladium tonight I thought that I had seen my best ever Dylan show at Brixton academy in 2005 but I think tonight I topped it.
Dylan was incredible tonight he really blew me away the whole audience seemed to be loving the show it was just sublime.
Someone else at the show told me that Ronnie Wood was there in the front row dancing all night I didn't spot him from where I was sitting but I had an amazing seat the royal box all to myself and had a great view of Dylan on the piano.

One more show to see on this tour at Wembley I really hope Bob keeps on playing he is just fantastic at the moment.

Nate thumbs up

Congrats Nate. How on earth did you manage to end up by yourself in the royal box? Related are we?

Paulywal was in a box as well, Matt and myself in the Royal Circle. Enjoyed the gig but I just wish His Bobness would have a smidgen of interaction with the audience. Seen him 5 times now, this was pretty good but his voice, understandably is not as great as the Princes trust gig in Hyde Park. We all get old I guess !!!

Chriseganstar

Satisfied since 1976

Dylan's concert in Frankfurt was fresh and thrilling. I especially loved Highway 61, Pay in Blood and Early Roman Kings. His band is fantastic indeed.

Yup, that box was a very last minute job from double8 tickets, so heavily discounted. Quite a steal actually. Great view, literally looking right down on him.

I agree, just one or two words would have been nice, but nope .... absolutely nothing from him !

[ I want to shout, but I can hardly speak ]

Is this revisionism or selected memories?
The 60s counter culture was partly a rebellion against the attitudes of the previous decade.
Segregation, McCarthyism, homophobia etc. Idyllic for whom?

Idyllic for whom?

Idyllic for a teenager with the head full of dreams. What Bob probbaly means is the times he grew up in would enable a young creative mind to flourish.

Now it's terrorism, violence, bullying, general vulgarity and bad manners [and ego-jerking selfies and morbid obesity and general illiteracy]..

Bob's remarks about the 50's probably explain why he's so withdrawn nowadays : he doesn't want to deal with the sordid crap we call "life in Western countries in the 21st century".

Can't blame him...

Slight typo here: the Dylan/Hentoff Playboy interview is from 1966, not 1996.

The last 4 questions/answers of this session are hilarious:

PLAYBOY: Do you have any unfulfilled ambitions?

DYLAN: Well, I guess I've always wanted to be Anthony Quinn in "La Strada". Not always - only for about six years now; it's not one of those childhood-dream things. Oh, and come to think of it, I guess I've always wanted to be Brigitte Bardot, too; but I don't really want to think about that too much.

PLAYBOY: Did you ever have the standard boyhood dream of growing up to be President?

DYLAN: No. When I was a boy, Harry Truman was President; who'd want to be Harry Truman?

PLAYBOY: Well, let's suppose that you were the President. What would you accomplish during your first thousand days?

DYLAN: Well, just for laughs, so long as you insist, the first thing I'd do is probably move the White House. Instead of being in Texas, it'd be on the East Side in New York. McGeorge Bundy would definitely have to change his name, and General McNamara would be forced to wear a coonskin cap and shades. I would immediately rewrite "The Star-Spangled Banner," and little school children, instead of memorizing "America the Beautiful," would have to memorize "Desolation Row" [one of Dylan's latest songs]. And I would immediately call for a showdown with Mao Tse-tung; I would fight him personally - and I'd get somebody to film it.

PLAYBOY: One final question: Even though you've more or less retired from political and social protest, can you conceive of any circumstance that might persuade you to reinvolve yourself?

DYLAN: No, not unless all the people in the world disappeared.

Many happy returns of the day, Bobby Z!
