It’s a WONDERFUL record. Key West (Philosopher Pirate) is, to my ears, a stunning, hauntingly beautiful, achingly languid piece of genius. The pick of the tracks, and I love them all, bar I’ve Made to my mind to Give Myself to You, which is bloody awful! Released the same day as Neil Young’s Homegrown. The latter is a nice record too, but unfortunately overshadowed by Dylan’s genius.

Now, this elder statesman has shown it CAN be done. The older artists CAN produce the goods. Mick, Keith, Charlie, Ronnie and Darryl... over to you!

Absolutely stunning indeed. For someone who has nothing left to prove, Dylan has felivered a masterpiece. Today is my birthday...what a wonderful gift.

Thank you so much Bob!

astonishing stuff. I cant go to bed because I'm playing 'Key west' on repeat.

The best Dylan song since 'Not Dark Yet', perhaps.

Fantastic record from start to finish. To get an album from anyone this good is quite something. To get it from a 79 year old who has written more great songs than anyone and whose place in history would be secure if he had never written a song after he was 25 it's remarkable.

PS - happy birthday

Thank you Gazza!

As you stated, this is truly a remarkable feat. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever expect to see Dylan pull off, once again, what he did in 1997 when he delivered 'Time Out of Mind', showing the world that he still 'had it 'in spades'. And then, just to remind us, he followed up with 'Love and Theft' in 2001.

I had read the positive advance reviews of 'Rough and Ready Ways' earlier this week, just like everyone else, yet still approached my initial listening session with some trepidation. It's easy to have lofty expectations when you're desperatly hoping for 'rumor' to become fact; suffice to say, my wishes have been fulfilled.

The old feller has still got it,it’s so good I played it twice.

I’m not sure why it’s spread over 2 CDs. I’d have preferred one disc and a booklet

After listening to "Rough and Rowdy Ways" once I have the impression that the album is rather strong. I did not expect an album with new Dylan-songs anymore, so it is a pleasant surprise. The record sounds very fresh.

I guess he was thinking of it as a vinyl double - with 'Murder Most Foul' getting the final side to itself (like 'Sad Eyed lady of the lowlands'). Bob's pretty old-school!

Lyrics are not included... they'll probably be posted on bobdylan.com at some point I guess.

The cardboard packaging is very simple, no booklet, minimum information. On the back side the famous JFK portrait photo that was used for the "Murder Most Foul" release. This song fills the entire CD2.

Yeah, it sounds cool. And very mature and deep and all that. Far from Empire Burlesque. I Think I´ll wait to september for a second listen. These songs deserve a candle light, fallen leaves and a cup of tea. And the new Neil Young album ain´t too shabby either.

The album is fantastic indeed, Black Rider has got a magic of its own, a wonderful groove comes from the acoustic guitars.

I'd never imagined Bob Dylan to release an album as great as this at this point.
The last album of his that I really appreciate is Love & Theft. Not even the highly regarded Tempest did it for me. But Rough And Rowdy Ways does

Oh Mercy , Time Out Of Mind and now this. I never thought he'd make such a stunning album again .
