I love that Dylan concentrates on his more recent material rather than doing a Greatest Hits show. It shows he has confidence in his current and recent stuff and he's not willing to be pigeon-holed.

Personally I think if Bob goes out in front of that Desert Trip crowd and plays the same twenty songs he was playing last tour then he is going to bomb. The Sinatra tunes are great and all that but I just can't see them going over at this event and while I like Tempest I don't think that crowd is going to want to hear five tunes from that. In recent years Bob has adjusted his setlist in Europe when playing to festival crowds (2014 & 2015) so I think he's aware of the dilemma. I know Bob is known for going against such concerns but he's getting paid millions and I wonder if he will adjust according to such expectations. Any thoughts?

Plus he must return for the second weekend which could get ugly if the first
show was a negative surprise for the audience and the national media.

> Will the songs be recognizable to casual fans or will he radically alter the arrangements as he always did in the past?
Unrecognizable arrangements.

i think that one of the most interesting things about desert trip will be dylan's setlist. i think he will play more or less the same setlist as his recent tour, but honestly everything is unpredictable.
a japanese firend of mine went to tokyo to see him few months ago he told me that almost the whole audience was around 70 years old or more ( he is 56) and that many people fell asleep during the concert. if it is true, i find this very very embarassing

I find that happening a lot a gigs now. I went to see Roy Harper in London last week and a good chunk of the audience was 60 plus. Soon it will be a case of more wheelchairs than not. Eeek.

The "Judas" show was in Manchester, 17 May and released on his Bootleg Series vol. 4.
