As a pure bonus I'll give you my Top 5 list of Bowie albums also:

Station to Station
Loaded
Heroes
Low
Scary Monsters

?? LOADED is by The Velvet Underground!

Maybe Come On means "Lodger"...?

Come On Indeed! If CO meant to write LODGER then I am super impressed -- Bowie's most underrated album IMO and definitely in my personal top 5!

Yeah, I meant 'Lodger'....brilliant 5 in row from David...

You could also add The Idiot and Lust for Life to this list...

"Kiss" - 101st Theme Time Episode Airing Tomorrow?

A post in the Expecting Rain forums brought the unexpected news that German radio station RadioEins has announced that they will exclusively broadcast an "unknown" episode of Theme Time Radio Hour this week titled, "Kiss."

The episode is scheduled for this Wednesday, 2/11/15, at 2100 (9:00 PM) CET / 3 PM ET. According to promotional material issued by RadioEins, the special is running as part of its "Friendly Takeover" series where musicians host and play their favorite music.

The show's 100th episode, "Goodbye," concluded the original series six years ago, on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Two shows, "Parties" and "Mail," were announced in a 2007 press release listing episodes for Season 2 of TTRH, but were never aired. The "Kiss" episode is noted by RadioEins as "previously unknown and never broadcast," indicating that the show is more likely to be an unaired episode from the original series rather than Dylan returning to the airwaves.

Dylan is my favorite artist. I really like Shadows of the Night. Of course his mid 60's albums are iconic, but I really listen most to "ModBob", Cowboy-bluesy Bob of the past 20 years. Oh Mercy, Time Out Of Mind, Love and Theft, Modern Times, Tell Tale Signs, Together Through Life, Tempest and now Shadows Of The Night (throw in World Gone Wrong too). I can never be satiated with Modern Day Bob & throw in "best of Live versions of the Never Ending Tour). Of course the live Bob is hit or miss, with drastic difference of quality night to night , or even song to song lol. I do wish he would of put more tender loving care regarding his studio takes / performences of the songs "Pay in Blood", Duquesne Whistle, song Tempest, & Forgetful Heart, but hey It's all Good.... I hope he keeps working his magic. Long live Mr Dylan! The MEZ

I agree with your assessment. I love Cowboy-bluesy Bob ("I'm in a cowboy band")

Well since Bowie hijacked the thread, my top five:

Station to Station
Hunky Dory
Diamond Dogs
Young Americans
Low

with Heathen deserving a tie with Low. An amazing later day artistic statement from the Thin White Duke.

Another good interview. He admits to "even considering inviting the Rolling Stones to peform".
And play Like A Rolling Stone perhaps?
Keiths buddy Aaron Neville played, might have been nice to see Keith with him on stage at least.

ok , i just listened to Bob's new album (the sinatra album ) , i know it is not everybody's cup of tea but, the bard knocked out of the park . i have to agree with rolling stone's review that said his voice has not sounded this good since john wessley harding. Bob Dylan can sing any genre and nail it perfect .such soul and emotion dripping from his voice .i can just picture him as a lounge lizard singer in some two bit joint .

I concur...just giving this an initial listen, and I love it. Perfect genre/sound for his voice. Just lovely.

I recall an interview or possibly it was in his Chronicle book when he was uninspired and lost for musical direction. Strangely, it was watching just such a lounge lizard singer in some two bit joint that somehow pulled him out of his slump. peace

If I'm not wrong, this is mentioned by Dylan on his Chronicles book. I think he was in New Orleans recording a new album (Oh, Mercy, if I'm not mistaken) and at some point he felt he needed some fresh air and went to a club. After watching a concert he went back to the studio and he could work again on his album.

Mercy granted, but my memory was that it was somewhere in Marin County California, maybe San Rafael (Grateful Dead territory) but I'm sure some Dylan fan here with the passage handy or with a better memory can verify this. You may be right, I may just picturing the dive in San Rafael because I'm familiar with the place.

I am curious if that encounter had anything to do with his choice of material and style for his new record. peace

Still too early for me to give a thumbs up or down to Shadows, but the first thing that hit me, is that I really miss lyrics written by Dylan on a Dylan album.

"for a second there it all came back, Peckinpah, Slim Pickens, Katy Jurado, James Coburn, the dusty lawless streets of Durango, my first wife, my kids when they were small. For a second it all came back"

Great sentence! It could almost be taken from a Dylan song... Bob's amazing.

For those of you who like to collect Dylan vinyl, I highly recommend Side Tracks. A great three album set compiling the unreleased songs, alternate mixes and B sides from Greatest hits 1-3 and Biograph. A limited edition release, it is beautifully packaged, pressed on 200 gram vinyl, and sounds stellar. And very reasonably priced.
