Thanks guys. That's not a BEARD on Mick by the way..it's a shadow from his windbreaker. I had my 35mm camera locked up back at my hotel, had a cheap Kodak camera with me!!! BAD LUCK! It would have been an incredible photo if taken with my GREAT CAMERA instead of that piece of crap. Thanks to Rockman for kindly posting the photo for me.
The Readers' Digest version of the story is this: I went to NYC explicitly to see if I could meet Mick. The NY Post had printed a photo a few days earlier of Mick in that same jacket " in front of his penthouse on Central Park West & 81st St..." just down 3 blocks from the Dakota. My pal Kat & I packed fast on a Friday and went to NYC...never went near that street until the day we were to return..Sunday afternoon. We went to the Natural History Museum, left at 2PM and headed back down Central Park West...towards the Langham, the building Mick lived in at the time w/ Jerry. It was March 20, 1982, the Tattoo You Tour had ended, Mick was living in NYC at the time...as Kat& I walked down the street I stopped in my tracks..said, " We're about to meet Mick...I can feel it..Where's my lipstick?" Kat thought I was wacky but I put lipstick on, fixed the hat and on we went..no more than another 2 blocks..again I stopped..I whispered " That's Mick"...she said NO WAY...of course it was. She called out to him and he turned around slowly..we spooked him and I was sure he'd run but when he saw we were a couple of fans he started to walk towards me with his hand extended saying " Hello, I'm Mick, how are you?" HOW AM I!?? I am frozen, stuck to the sidewalk, that's how I was!!! It was a miracle that I just started to chat with him about the tour, the 2 shows I'd seen, talked about their music a bit, and then I remembered that I had always wanted to thank him for bringing so much joy into my life with all of those years of amazing music. He smiled BIG and thanked me, held my hand...OMG...and Kat asked if she could take a photo of us and we got real close..I started to put my arm around his waist but dropped it to my side, not wanting to be pushy. He turned to look at me, smiled and grabbed me around the waist and the photo was snapped! He KNEW I was being respectful. So, we chatted more, he asked where I lived..I almost FORGOT! Told him we were just taking in the sights, the museum, clubs and restaurants. His cab came and the doorman escorted him away but he shook my hand once again,, waved bye from the cab, and off he went....
I was SO CALM until he was out of view and then I cried a little. Actually I was very numb. We went off to call home because everyone told us we were CRAZY to think that in a city of 8 million, we'd FIND MICK JAGGER! They ALL ate a lot of CROW.
End of story, sorry it was a bit longer than I wanted it to be. To say it moved me is a tremendous understatement! To think that he was so SWEET, patient, and kind blew my mind. I have often thought about what if he was not so wonderful...I would have been crushed..but he so exceeded any of my wildest dreams that I consider myself blessed.

Just so great that he was so nice to you...I mean you treated him respectfully and he reciprocated. Wonder what he would have been like if you were male?

Thanks so much, Stonesrule.I wish that everyone who cares about this band as much as I do could have a one on one with their favorite band member. It would make for one HAPPY PLANET!

The closest I got was Mick Taylor walking past me when I was stood by the back entrance of the Ambassadors Theatre after the Boogie for Stu concert. I didn't try and approach him for an autograph or anything as he seemed to want to just get away and I didn't want to harass him.

Well....Keith talked TO me...
I was sitting on the edge of the stage at the Enmore Theatre warmup gig on the Licks tour in Sydney....best night of my life....when Keith went down on one knee, guitar straddling the other leg and, one handed (no hand on the strings/frets) started the opening riff of HTW.
He played it thru about 4 times before the rest of the band kicked in. But, just before they did, still on one knee and only about 3 feet in front of me, he looked straight at me, winked, grinned, and said
"How @#$%&' easy is this?"....
I will never forget it. I looked at my brother-in-law who was standing right next to me and he was laughing his head off...!

Is that the show that had Angus & Malcom Young come out? If so, I luv the video of that when Angus pushes Mick out of the way to do his solo. Cracks me up every time!

The VERY show...! And I admit, whilst I recognised Angus straight away, with Malcolm it was a wee bit of a "who is that?" for a few seconds!! My brother in law, until that night an AC/DC nutter, converted to The Stones THAT NIGHT COZ OF THIS SHOW, pointed out to me who Malcolm was! Malcolm was actually, IMHO, stage stuck at being on stage with The Stones, he sort of was frozen in space/time for the song.

I saw them in a small venue that tour too. The Joint (before they expanded it) in Las Vegas. We got bragging rights on those shows!

No doubt, & they were exceptional shows all right! I actually had tickets to the Sydney show a couple of days later, but the seats were up in the stands at an arena, and after sitting in the stage at a small theatre show I said to the wife I didn't want to diminish my memory of them by seeing them, basically, on the video screen. So we flew home to Perth 2 days early, unused tickets in my pocket.
I scored front row tickets to their forthcoming Arena show in Adelaide, THAT'LL be ok too, I would imagine!!!
