If someone can tell me a simple way of posting a photo here, I can finally show the photo I finally had properly scanned of Mick & me.

easiest way is to lick the back of the picture and stick it to your screen.

I'm not sure how well we'd see it though, having said that.

Get a photo sharing account, I use photobucket, but there are plenty out there. Upload the pic onto the site from your computer, then just cope and paste the link here. If I can figure it out mickschix, you sure can!

Keith once talked to me.
One sentence.
September 2003 Twickenham
I stood 1st row, Section A2, Keith side.
The show began.
And from the first second on, Keith was looking at me.
Giving me a smile.
Nodding in my direction.
Gave me a wink. And another.
Through the whole first song.
I thought: Yes!! After standing FOS so many years now, since 1982, he finally is recognizing me. As the fan and friend I am. Backstage must be next. Go for a drink after the show with him etc.
And he kept on doing it through the second song.
And also the third.
Meanwhile I got nervous. And irritated. How Keith can know me so good??
And then I saw it: The Lady beside me - very attractive in her starting fourties or so, looking a bit like a Rock´n Roll version of Lady Di - was reacting to all his stuff.
And now I realized - to my dissapoinment, and a bit to my relief at the same time Keith was not looking at me, he was looking at her right beside me.
"He´s giving you all the signs and looks", I asked her.
"Yes", she said, "I´m his cousin!"
"OooH...", I went.
"Yes", she went on, "Our whole family is here, even his auntie."
She pointed to a lady standing also right in front of stage beside her.
I could´nt believe my eyes: That lady was a old grandma, waving towards Keith all the time.
"She´s 85!", Keith cousin smiled at me.
In this very moment, a stupid guy who danced like a freak to the songs, pushed that old lady very hard in her back.
She was pressed to the FOS-barrier very hard.
And the dancing freak didn´t even noticed.
I grabbed him, pushed him back, told him to stop it and not to come any nearer again to this area.
I´m 6 foot 8 tall - so I can make my point clear if I really need to.
Keith saw all that, while playing. When the third song finished he came immediately to the edge of the stage, looking at the old lady:
"Everything allright auntie?", he shoutet.
"Yeah", she belted back, and then pointing at me "he´s taking care of me."
And the Keith looked at me, a short but deep look: "Allright, thanks for that man!"
And then...on with the show.
I felt part of the Richards family for two hours :-))

I wish I had taken care of the amp better over the years but you can still read it. I won't retrace it, I figure it will fade when I fade. After he used it I grease marked the knobs to the settings keith dialed in but a tech cleaned it when it was re-tubed which was really unnecessary.

In August 1990 I went with some friends to the concert in Berlin,
the afternoon before the concert we saw Charlie walking at "unter den linden".
We didn't really talk with him, but we made a picture together!
And about 10 years ago I talked shortly with Mick Taylor, at a bluessession here in the Netherlands... in a little pub with max 50 people.

I had the luxury to hire Nicky Hopkins for a recording session before I had much experience. He was flown in from LA and we recorded him on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. We being kids directed him like crazy. "Play it more like TWFNO" and stuff like that. He obliged, told us an arm full of tales and then announced he had done all he could do for the recording. We then asked him to play B-3 on another tune and he hesitated, saying it's not what he normally does. Still he obliged with a few takes. I doubt this was his last recording session, circa 1986??? but it had to be one of them. Yes, he was way cool, played beautifully and an archetypical pro session man. I am honored to have spent an afternoon with him. RIP

Strange question, D&G, but was this by chance a Belinda Carlisle session?
No a band called "The Insiders"....

The Insiders...was this a band in Chicago? My friend became good friends with the lead singer from the Insiders (Chicago band) and they were able to get Bobby Keys to record with them. This would have been in the late 80s/early 90s.

But when Ronnie did a signing for his autobiography in NYC on Halloween '07, I told him that the "Miss Judy's Farm" riff was the filthiest thing I'd ever heard. He stopped signing, stood up, and grabbed my hand with both of his and started shaking it furiously while yelling "Yeah, man! Yeah! Thanks! Great! Yeah!" I just smiled and nodded like an idiot. It was probably the best conversation I've ever had, come to think of it.
how freakin great. both your personal encounter and the song. got totally hooked with it.

Thanks guys. That's not a BEARD on Mick by the way..it's a shadow from his windbreaker. I had my 35mm camera locked up back at my hotel, had a cheap Kodak camera with me!!! BAD LUCK! It would have been an incredible photo if taken with my GREAT CAMERA instead of that piece of crap. Thanks to Rockman for kindly posting the photo for me.
The Readers' Digest version of the story is this: I went to NYC explicitly to see if I could meet Mick. The NY Post had printed a photo a few days earlier of Mick in that same jacket " in front of his penthouse on Central Park West & 81st St..." just down 3 blocks from the Dakota. My pal Kat & I packed fast on a Friday and went to NYC...never went near that street until the day we were to return..Sunday afternoon. We went to the Natural History Museum, left at 2PM and headed back down Central Park West...towards the Langham, the building Mick lived in at the time w/ Jerry. It was March 20, 1982, the Tattoo You Tour had ended, Mick was living in NYC at the time...as Kat& I walked down the street I stopped in my tracks..said, " We're about to meet Mick...I can feel it..Where's my lipstick?" Kat thought I was wacky but I put lipstick on, fixed the hat and on we went..no more than another 2 blocks..again I stopped..I whispered " That's Mick"...she said NO WAY...of course it was. She called out to him and he turned around slowly..we spooked him and I was sure he'd run but when he saw we were a couple of fans he started to walk towards me with his hand extended saying " Hello, I'm Mick, how are you?" HOW AM I!?? I am frozen, stuck to the sidewalk, that's how I was!!! It was a miracle that I just started to chat with him about the tour, the 2 shows I'd seen, talked about their music a bit, and then I remembered that I had always wanted to thank him for bringing so much joy into my life with all of those years of amazing music. He smiled BIG and thanked me, held my hand...OMG...and Kat asked if she could take a photo of us and we got real close..I started to put my arm around his waist but dropped it to my side, not wanting to be pushy. He turned to look at me, smiled and grabbed me around the waist and the photo was snapped! He KNEW I was being respectful. So, we chatted more, he asked where I lived..I almost FORGOT! Told him we were just taking in the sights, the museum, clubs and restaurants. His cab came and the doorman escorted him away but he shook my hand once again,, waved bye from the cab, and off he went....
I was SO CALM until he was out of view and then I cried a little. Actually I was very numb. We went off to call home because everyone told us we were CRAZY to think that in a city of 8 million, we'd FIND MICK JAGGER! They ALL ate a lot of CROW.
End of story, sorry it was a bit longer than I wanted it to be. To say it moved me is a tremendous understatement! To think that he was so SWEET, patient, and kind blew my mind. I have often thought about what if he was not so wonderful...I would have been crushed..but he so exceeded any of my wildest dreams that I consider myself blessed.
