Would have been a stronger album if they put So Young on it!

I just really don't like this album. I find it very badly recorded, and it is very much a 'concept' album, with the Stones trying too hard to sound like the Stones. Strangely the only songs I like are Sweethearts Together and Mean Disposition. All else of fodder.

Mathijs

Blah blah blah blah. Always complaining.

Than ask me about B2B.

Thru & Thru, The Worst, Love is Strong, Out of Tears, Suck on the Jugular, I Go Wild, Mean Disposition....love these songs!!

Hope Keith breaks out Thru & Thru in Australia. Can never get enough of the MSG 2003 version on the Four Flicks DVD.

Great album, maybe their last full album as band (B2B was two solo albums combined and ABB was a Mick's solo album with Keith on guitar with Charlie and Ronnie playing their part at deadline), 1994 was a great year for music, one of the last before the R&B/Rap buried the rock from the mainstream radio or tv forever.

ABB was a Mick album?

VOODOO LOUNGE GOT ME ROCKING AGAIN after the lame Steel Wheels (Check out the raw outtakes bootleg....) release and boring Dirty Work.
It was a long time from 1983 UNDER COVER till VOODOO LOUNGE, but we got Talk Is Cheap and Wandering Spirit in 1988 and 1992 to keep THE FAITH.

I think B2B is far far superior to Voodoo Lounge.

I confess to liking The Worst and Sparks Will Fly, but like Bridges and ABB, it is an utterly unessential Rolling Stones album. Everything on it was done better by them before.

God forbid somebody has an opinion differing from yours, right?

I agree with MHR. That guy always has something negative to say. You have only been on here for 9 days. You'll figure it out fast.

Bought it the first day, in the evening, after work...still have the sales receipt slipped inside the CD booklet. Really enjoyed it at the time...was a very happy period for me personally and professionally, and the Stones were part of it all with the new release and tour stop that fall. As others have noted, 1994 was a great year for music...providing a memorable soundtrack to that part of my life.

<<I was never a huge fan of the Seattle grunge scene (too much angst)>>

If you've ever seen the documentary film Hype, this point is addressed and even explained: The sun doesn't shine all that much in that Northwest corner of the U.S. Consequently, Seattle has the highest proportion of depression and suicide in addition to alcoholism as well as the greatest number of serial killers originating from there. The skies are often gray and gloomy and hence the angst is in the air, almost like a toxic molecular chemical from of the Periodic Table of Elements. Seattle is the Berlin of the U.S.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

Also, 90 degrees and sunny here in Seattle today. Not much angst.

Yes Jump On Top Of Me, The Storm, Honest Man & So Young added.... deduct Suck On Jugular, I Go Wild & Mean Disposition, that'd be a top line shelf album to me, no question. Really enjoy it as is, anyhow though. MEZ

Really great album, best since Tattoo You. Love all the bluesy b-sides they released with the singles. And of course all the outtakes that are available. Massive!

Pete.

I still like The Worst and Moon Is Up, and found LIS to be one of their strongest singles in a long time when it came out.

Yeah, there is something about Sweethearts Together indeed.

thumbs up

I think so too. I think B2B is a fantastic album that also has aged really well.

B2b is far better than Voodoo, they used to play 5 songs alive:

-Anybody seen my baby?
-Flip the switch
-Out of control
-Saint of me
-Thief in the night

All them worked very well, except maybe Anybody seen my baby?

Both "You Got Me Rocking" and "Out of Control" worked damn well two weeks at Stockholm... But to compare those two albums, I think both songs represent rather well their context, and say enough of their content.

They played You Don't Have To Mean It regularly as well.

They also had a go at Lowdown, Might As Well Get Juiced and How Can I Stop at MSG.
