Graham Nash is providing new insights into Pink Floyd‘s forthcoming ‘Endless River’ project, confirming that he and long-time bandmate David Crosby added vocals to a David Gilmour-penned track dealing with loss.

“We went down to sing on this particular song that he wrote about friends that had died,” Nash reveals, in a new talk with VH-1 Radio Network’s Dave Basner. “It’s a beautiful song, too — beautiful.”

Gilmour and Nick Mason have been at work since late last year completing ambient, primarily instrumental music begun during the late Rick Wright‘s final early-’90s sessions with Pink Floyd. Lyricist Polly Samson, who has collaborated with her husband Gilmour on a series of projects, described ‘The Endless River’ as Wright’s “swansong.”

This isn’t the first time, by the way, that Nash and Crosby have been involved with a Gilmour project. They also sang background on the title track for his 2006 solo album ‘On an Island.’ “I’m hoping that it’s as good as ‘On An Island,’” Nash tells Basner, “because I thought that that song of Gilmour’s was not only a brilliant song, but I thought we sang pretty good on it.”

Rumors that Graham and Nash were working with Gilmour first circulated last November, but it was assumed back then that the sessions would be part of a planned ‘On an Island’ follow up. ‘The Endless River’ is due in October.

Didn't care for the two post-Waters LPs (though "One Slip" from MLOR is a great track) but the 1994 Pink Floyd show I saw at Yankee Stadium remains one of the two or three best (or at least most fun) concerts I've ever been to. With all the smoke and lasers you really couldn't even see who was onstage. It was all about the music and the lights. Dave's voice and guitar were there, and for me that was enough. Didn't miss Roger. For me, Dave's voice and guitar are the principal identifying features of the Pink Floyd sound, much more so than Roger's angst-laden hollering.
i was at this concert at yankee stadium and this was a fun concert .great first base dugout seats on the friday before the baseball strike (that sunday ) .the yankees were in anaheim playing the halo's that weekend .

Concerts at Yankee Stadium were very rare in those days. I think Floyd was only the third band to ever play there, after Billy Joel and U2.
the Boss did not like non yankee events at the stadium .

According to several die-hard Pink Floyd friends of mine , it is still under the assumption that the Crosby and Nash sessions will be part of the Gilmore solo project due sometime in 2015.
Perhaps Nash made a mistake? Or perhaps Gilmour has decided instead to add it to the new "Floyd" album?

I guess time will tell...

I know this has nothing to do with their "new" album, but I think it's worth to post this video here, which I've never seen before.

For my European brethren: With regard to Yankee Stadium, the Boss is now-deceased owner George Steinbrenner, not Bruce Springsteen.

New Pink Floyd Album!!! The title of this thread only, what humour. HAHAHAHA.
Pink Floyd as a band died when Syd Barett left.

Either a babbling idiot, or obvious sarcasm to provoke a response.

Many people on the indie/alternative end of the spectrum hold this view.
So no I don't think it's a wind up..

So "The Rolling Stones" are Mick, Keith and Charlie. And it's been that way since 1991. Everyone knows Ronnie doesn't count.

So what's the problem with Pink Floyd again?

All instrumental album, except for the final cut (no pun intended) which has lyrics by Polly Samson.

By Andy Greene | September 22, 2014

After months of rumors, Pink Floyd have finally announced the details of their new album The Endless River, which hits shelves on November 10th. It's the group’s first new release since 1994’s The Division Bell. According to a press release, The Endless River is a “four-sided instrumental album,” though one track, “Louder Than Words,” has lyrics by David Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson. It was produced by Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson and is available for pre-order right now.

The project began with Gilmour and Floyd drummer Nick Mason sorting through music they recorded with keyboardist Rick Wright (who died in 2008) during the Division Bell sessions. "We listened to over 20 hours of the three of us playing together and selected the music we wanted to work on for the new album," Gilmour said in a statement. "Over the last year we've added new parts, re-recorded others and generally harnessed studio technology to make a 21st century Pink Floyd album. With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire."

Adds Mason: "The Endless River is a tribute to Rick. I think this record is a good way of recognizing a lot of what he does and how his playing was at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. Listening back to the sessions, it really brought home to me what a special player he was."

Pink Floyd quietly disbanded in late 1994 at the conclusion of their worldwide stadium tour in support of The Division Bell. They reformed with Roger Waters for a four-song set at Live 8 in 2005. The following year, Gilmour went on a solo tour that featured Richard Wright on keyboards. (Waters played a handful of gigs with Mason around the same time.) Gilmour and Mason joined Waters at a 2011 stop on his The Wall Live show in London, but have consistently shot down any talk of a reunion tour. Waters has no involvement with The Endless River and the group hasn’t announced any plans to support the disc with any live work.

Here is a complete track listing for The Endless River:

SIDE 1
1. "Things Left Unsaid"
2. "It’s What We Do"
3. "Ebb and Flow"

SIDE 2
1. "Sum"
2. "Skins"
3. "Unsung"
4. "Anisina"

SIDE 3
1. "The Lost Art of Conversation"
2. "On Noodle Street
3. "Night Light"
4. "Allons-y (1)"
5. "Autumn’68"
6. "Allons-y (2)"
7. "Talkin’ Hawkin'"

SIDE 4
1. "Calling"
2. "Eyes To Pearls"
3. "Surfacing"
4. "Louder Than Words"

Reading the track list put me to sleep. I love Pink Floyd, but I still have no interest in this. I wish I did, honestly.

Sounds interesting, Wright and Gilmour's forte has always been instrumentals...like SOYCD.

Doesn't matter if they make up now. Rick Wright is dead. They missed their chance. Now is actually the time for Pink Floyd to rest in peace.

I'll grant you, a few of Pink Floyd's instrumentals are excellent....But 2 CD's worth?

Just a snippet, but as expected sounds pretty crappy...futuristic elevator music...contrived faux-Floyd... just my opinion.

"Remember this photo? It wasn't what you THOUGHT it was. "YES. THERE IS A NEW PINK FLOYD ALBUM COMING OUT. AND I'M ON IT. And there was much rejoicing."
-- Durga McBroom-Hudson, from her Facebook post

David Gilmour with (left to right) Sarah Brown, Durga McBroom-Hudson and Louise Clare Marshall.

More comments from Durga regarding "The Endless River" album:

"I don't know if there will be a tour or not yet. STAY TUNED."

"The recording did start during The Division Bell sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled "The Big Spliff" that Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it. But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That's the song you see being worked on in the photo."

"ALL UNRELEASED SONGS. And I don't know about vinyl, but I don't see why not."

"Yes, Guy is on it." (In reply to if Guy Pratt is on the album)

"And yes, Nick also. THIS IS A PINK FLOYD ALBUM."

"No, he's going to release a solo album as well."

"I know - he wanted to keep it quiet. But no one is going to tell Polly what to do!! LOL!!"

LOL oh what happened to all lout beautiful rockers?

Think about it this way: it's mostly instrumental and has Rick Wright, one of the main "architects" of the Pink Floyd sound--the man who put that Miles Davis jazz chord in Us And Them. Should sound something like those "barn jams" from Dave's most recent sessions (All "3" from Live in Gdansk)....
